I am thinking of chipping my A4 2005 1.8T CVT(Looking for REVO), just wondering if any of you mod experts has a chipped CVT and how many miles has it been running trouble free?

GIAC has a chip for CVT's.
It only has half the TQ of the normal chip.
BTW , post this in the B6 forums.

there aren't a lot of modded CVTs out there. . . not why you buy a CVT, ya know?

hang in there, there must be someone who has done something with their CVT.

im sure there are plenty of b6 cvt's that have ecu upgrades...Digi-tec has a software for the cvt no problem if your intersted but so do may other manufacturers

Yes, I am sure there are many sw available , seems they all be fine with the CVT while it still in good new condition, but not sure if the tunning will shorten the CVT's life fast, say 50,000miles. For me 50000mile is around 2.5 year.

My cousin had his 1.8T chipped, the cvt broke down around 30,000miles in a hard kick-down, beginning fell clutch slip than bang......

what do you mean "hard kick-down?"
how long was the kick-down engaged for?
did he use it persistantly...?

i have a stock b6 1.8t and use the kick-down feature often...hopefully i'm not screwing anything up...

audi808a4 how many miles do you have on your car and how many miles have you put on since having the mod done. does your car burn out the tires a lot quicker also. I have 19's on and don't want to have to spend another $1000 on tires.

If you can BT a CVT, you can definatly chip it:

BTW guys, Audi is selling A6's in the UK with multitronic (CVT) coupled with their very torquey TDI engines. I believe the 3.0 TDI gives out approx. 280lb-ft of torque starting from 1400rpm or so, IIRC. This again should reassure you that the new multitronic is much more durable. Look it up on Fourtitude, there is a press release on this and it mentions how the new CVT is strengthened.
