Guys,

Are all the V8 4.2 Litre Audi's using the same aluminium engine blocks?

Ie S4, A6 V8, S6 and RS6?

The C5 A6 and the C5 S6 share the same block, just different tuning. If I recall correctly, the S6 has different heads and software tuning.

The B6 S4 and the RS6 share the same 4.2 block, one being naturally aspirated and the other being twin turbo charged.

Aftermarket parts and modifications between these two types of engines are not interchangeable.

I had spoke to a Audi salesman and he had told me that the 4.2 in the A6 98-04 is different than the 4.2 in the b6 S4 and A8L. There are old and new design. The new design is a more compact.

I want to stay the drivebelt is even in a different location. I have to take another look. Gotta get back to you.
