View Full Version : Supercharger sound without aftermarket intake?
Hi everyone,
I wouldn't mind allowing a little bit of supercharger sound out, is this possible without actually replacing the stock airbox? I would like to hear the charger a bit and still be OEM-ish.
Thanks!

Sure replace the intake pipe from air box to TB it has a muffler of sorts in it and replace stock paper filter with something like the AWE filter. If you want a little more you can dremel out a baffle out of the inlet to the oem air box, not sure that makes much of a different though.

I dont think so, but oemish could be had with the APR intake, i think i remember readin that there was still some whine with their intake. I could be mistaken

I found a slight increase in the SC whine by just changing to the AWE S-FLO system. the new lid fits on the OE stock airbox and I suspect the thinness of the CF lid allows for a little more SC sound out.

Did you leave it like the bottom picture or did you install the top cover again like the top photo?

it is like the top photo with the top cover installed. I was just showing how I cut the stock scoop to modify it to the s-flo system. maybe moot here... but I felt it would only help pick up airflow from the front grill.

Your best bet is replacing the tube (however, that may be too drastic, idk) and/or cutting holes into the air intake box.
IF you want an OEM style/look and more sound (but the sound will probably be very weak still).

Changing which part causes the most increase in sound. Would flat out removing/ cutting the top of the airbox increase sound

Yeah they are not that expensive in relation to what you paid for the car.
