I haven't heard of any but Try techtonics tuning, that where i got my downpipe. If you can get a 3" downpipe the rest of the exhaust any local exhaust shop can finsih. The downpipe would be the most expensive part of the exhaust to make if you had to go cutom.

About what is the average cost for an aftermarket downpipe for my A4? I've got supersprint exhaust and it didn't come with one and they only offer a test pipe. The stock downpipe definately kills turbo spooling since its so restrictive.

Only company that made a 3" exhaust was Matrix Integrated Inc. Only thing is they were all custom made per order and I dont think they sell them anymore but you could always call and ask.

I would give www.ghlmotorsports.com a try. They don't have a 3" system listed for Audi 1.8t (they have 2.5") but I know they make 3" for VW applications.

Edit: I just got off the phone with them they don't make a 3" system for B5 Audi's (they have a 3" in the works for b6 though)
He said that they could build one but they need a car to beable to build a system.

F.Y.I. they are in Arizona.

Edit #2: I mentioned that there are a number of B5's out there that are running big turbos in need of a 3" exhaust. This seemed to peak his interest. He said well we need to get on that and develop a 3"" system for the 97-2001.5 car's.

I put down over 250whp (and a fat ass power curve) with my T28 on 91 octane with a 2.5" exhaust and a functioning 3" highflow cat. to my knowledge that is more then any other straight stage 3 on pump gas (many others run 3" and a testpipe and make less power).... Why do you need 3"?

Lets not forget your car was custom tuned, now if you want to compare the power you made with the 2.5 vs a 3" your going to need to put the 3" on your car.

I made 225 whp with the T28 kit running a chip tuned on a Passat for pump , I was running a stock 1.78" down pipe and 2.5" exhaust.

I was talking to the guys at GHL at waterfest and they said they where in the works of coming out with a 3" for the A4.
I know a tuning shop in Pittsburgh was going to test it out for them.

Hardware is hardware.... injectors still spray fuel (infact mine are smaller then its predecessors and still at 4 bar), the turbo is still the same old T28 that everyone else has and I am running 1.5 bar which many choose to do with the T28. You can overlay my plot to others plots and i bet it would look better in terms of overall usable powerband.

Sure my car would make more peak power with larger exhaust, but it would also have alot of drone in the cabin (my car is and always has been a daily driver) and like I said the powerband would be affected. 2.5" is fine for a T28 and more then adequate for a K04 setup.

GHL stuff is top notch... My bud has their exhuast on his now Stage 3 B5A4 and it sounds beyond beastly. It wouldn't be hard to mistake it for a german V8 the way the thing rumbles... and yea, the car hauls ass.
