View Full Version : Creaking clutch pedal issue solved
Any of you that have been here forever know that I had issues with creaking clutch pedal and grainy feel in the car in hot weather. Finally had Eurotech disassemble the pedal assembly and we greased the pin with some super grease. Stuff is high temp nasty black goop in a tube that is supposed to go in a caulking gun. Greased up the main pivot pin and the spring. put everything back together (which was a bitch) and its smooth as butter now. No noise, no grainy feeling. Feels like a brand new clutch just cause of this dumb plastic pin being dry.
Hope it lasts!

Did you have to bleed the lines for this?

??
No. Its just the clutch pedal assembly under the dash inside the car. You take the plastic shroud off underneath the steering wheel for more access and look up at how the pedal pivots. There is a pin you can see that is the culprit. I have used spray on white lithium grease in the past. It doesnt work. You have to take this pin out and lube it up good. Use the best high temp grease you can find and then put it back together.

Hahaha, what are you getting done?

I don't know if u remember when I had the S5. I sold that and picked up a B7 A4. Just getting the factory s-line suspension installed to tighten up the wheel gap a bit. I'm not going crazy with this car like I did the S5.

My dealer put some sort of grease under the clutch pedal. Creaking went away for a few months, but now has returned. I'll mention about the pin to them at my next visit.

You know there was a TSB for this right? Audi would have done it for free...
Gosh, so glad I went DSG - DSG Owner

This problem has been driving me nuts for MONTHS now and I had figured it was more complicated than just grease...pulling the petal assembly apart as soon as I get home tonight!

Be careful that the whole assembly doesnt come apart cause its a bitch to get everything back together. Usually it doesnt though. Just use the BEST grease you can buy. Maybe even brake pad grease

Does it HAVE to to come apart or is it possible to grease the pivot points without removing everything?

You HAVE to remove the pin and grease it up and the place it comes out from. If not it will only work temporarily
