when i start my car up in the morning or after letting it sit for 2 or more hours i hear a "ZINGING" noise coming from the engine by the driver side, when i turn the wheels and gas it a lil bit, this goes away after about 2 mins of driving or after letting the car warm up....

any idea of what it might be?

oops forgot details... 97 1.8t 5spd 68k miles

power steering would make a zinging noise? add fluid?

check levels before dumping fluids into your car.

just a quick question... why would the noise be coming from the steering pump what causes that, also what i meant to say is that...
I only hear the noise when the car is turned only to the left and gased.

no noise is made when just the wheel is turned only when gas is applied

Because when you turn it all the way on direction your locking the steering rack and when you push on the gas your increasing the speed of the steering pump.

Could it be the cam tensioner?

Could be the viscus fan clutch. I had mine go out recently causing an oily mess everywhere. If its going bad, its easy to hear right when you shut the engine off since its still spinning... you hear it make noise spinning down.
