Hi all,
I am looking into purchasing a car vacuum and something to upkeep the alcantara in my car. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend getting the air compressor attachment, something to loosen up to sand

What do you mean car vacuum? Something portable that you can put in your trunk? Or for maintenance? For maintenance, easy answer, Shop Vac or equivalent...

Otherwise I don't have anything relevant for alcantara

i would say something that is portable but powerful, if possible.

thanks for the recommendation on the Shop Vac. i'll look into it.

if you have some money to blo:
Vac N Blo Classic VNB-94BD (https://www.metrovacworld.com/Vac_N_Blo_Classic_VNB_94BD/overview)

if not, this works reasonable well:
ArmorAll AA255 Utility Wet/Dry Vacuum (http://www.amazon.com/ArmorAll-AA255-Utility-Vacuum-gallon/dp/B003M2F7NI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428328884&sr=8-1&keywords=armour+all+car+vac)
The above link is for A.mazon, but AZ might hijack it and bring you to some other site.

Hard to beat a basic shop vac (home depot/lowes) for the price. Something nicer that can hang on the wall would be something more like THIS. (http://www.autogeek.net/wall-mount-vac-n-blo.html) I've had good results with Sonax alcantara cleaner as well - HERE. (http://www.autogeek.net/sonax-alcantara-cleaner1.html)

SHOP VAC! I have a black and decker cordless that gets the job done. I think I got it on amazon for like 60.
leather products can get really expensive, I use chemical guys or adams.

I don't use it any more than once a month...haven't needed too. Every couple times you wash the car would be plenty. Pretty impressed with the durability of this alcantara, which was a concern when I was originally looking to purchase. Glad I went with this over regular leather.

Also use this, works pretty well with all the different attachments available for it.

SHop vac works great. ALsok, you can reverse the hoses and you can turn it into a leaf blower. Great way to blow the leaves/dirt in the garage...

Here's a 9 gallon one http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-9-gal-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-WD0970/205144662

Here's a 14 gallon one with a slightly more powerful motor http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-14-gal-Professional-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-WD1450/100081216

If you got the room and you own a house, might as well get the 14 gallon because you might need it to suckup some water spillage in the house...

Alcantra is not leather, it is synthetic suede or microfiber cloth.

I've got the biggest shop vac motor you can get at your local hardware store. Money well spent. I bought it because my basement flooded. Works like a champ

Van N blow by metro is great. One side vacuums and the other blows to get water out of door jambs after a wash. The interior detailing tools are great too

I have a Fein Turbo II shop vac. It's quiet, powerful, but probably overkill for doing a car. Phil at Detailers Domain offers a 10% discount on basically everything he sells, including the Metro Vacs (coupon code "AUDI"), but also has frequent sales (may be having one for Labor Day this weekend) offering larger discounts and/or free shipping. Here's his blower/vac page (https://www.detailersdomain.com/collections/vac-steamers-blowers).

For your Alcantara, here's an incredibly detailed article by TOGWT (famed in detailing circles for his knowledge and documentation), about "Alcantara Cleaning and Care (http://togwt1980.blogspot.com/2015/04/alacantra-cleaning-and-care.html)."

I've used Sonax and Leather Master. I think Sonax is superior.
