Hey guys, my stock contis are at the end of their life and I'm wondering whats the widest tire I can fit on the stock 19' peelers? The car is at stock height and the tires will most likely be Michelin PSS. I'm wondering if I can fit 275s on the 8.5 inch rims. I'm guessing I have to make the side wall smaller than 35 though if I want to go wider than 255 to keep the bulk down on the sidewall. I also plan on installing the ECS flush spacer kit and might be lowering the car >1.5 inches. Thanks!

I would say 265, I think 275's would look bad because you'd have like an inch of rubber going past the actual wheel

Look at the specs of the tire you want to mount. Technically and 19" 265 PSS says it needs 9" wide wheels. Personally I would not do it. 255's are pretty square on the stock peelers. What is the look that you are going for? Or are you interested in performance? I used to think getting as wide of a tire under the car was super important to get better performance but then I learned from a few guys I autocross with and a few articles that I read that set me straight.

I don't like how skinny 255s look. I don't care for stretched or over stretched tire look but, I don't like when I look at the back of the car and the tires look so thin.

Go to 1010tires.com and use their tire size calculator. The following page shows tire stats, including rim width.

255's may look skinny for a continental or hankook tire, but for Michelin PSS they are a meaty-ass tire. You won't want to go more than 255/35/19 on stock peelers if you're running PSS. Trust me on this. Plus you maintain proper rolling radius for your speedo.

275 on a 8.5 will have too much flex in the tire wall. stay with a 255

So do it right and actually get wider wheels.

The car is leased and I already have to worry about selling my winter wheels and tires so buying another pair of rims is not worth it considering I'm up in about a year in a half on my lease.

I run 265/35/18 on my track set without any rubbing. Lowered on HR OE. You can definitely run 265 on your peelers but you will run once you lower it.

Are your wheels 8.5" wide?

Also consider that some shops will not mount tires on wheels unless the specs align.

That said I know people that run R compound tires by shoehorning wide tires on rims that are technically too narrow.
