I was looking around the web to update the window switches in my car (2010 s4) for the new, chrome plated ones, and came across a number of sellers on ebay who have what seem to be OEM units for sale (http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-5PCS-Chrome-Master-Window-Mirror-Switch-For-Audi-A4-S4-B8-Q5-A5-/131033885484?fits=Model%3AS4&hash=item1e823a6b2c&vxp=mtr).

Has anyone purchased these? any problems? The price is much lower than those from ECS/ones being sold through Germany on ebay, so I am a bit skeptical.

Thanks for any feedback

I used to buy little bits and pieces for my previous Volvo from vendors like these on eBay. Usually stuff that the manufacturer didn't offer, such as a change tray for the center console, or rear door sill protectors that matched the fronts.

Great quality on molded pieces, somewhat meh quality on parts that were assembled in a factory. One funny thing I remember happening was a Chinese vendor packaged the part in what looked identical to Volvo OEM parts packaging. Only issue was it said "Made in Moxico," and I don't think they meant Africa!

I bought the ebay made-in-China chrome switches for my CC, they looked and worked perfect. They were real VW parts, but made in China. Much cheaper than the European made switches that you buy at a US dealer.

Yea - it looks like these are OEM parts coming out of the China factory, which I would assume would work in all B8 models regardless of region. Glad to hear they worked for you!

Is this a door card off job, or can you get the switches out by removing the trim under the armrest?
cheers

The window switches are easy to install without removing anything except the handle cover, but the trunk switch is another story. The door card needs to come off for that one.

Thanks for the reply mate (I was actually just reading your blog yesterday).
No worries with boot release button for me because wagon [;)]

Look forward to attacking the window switches, pedals and 8.5 shifter (most stressful sounding job of the lot) when the bits all show up.

The shifter can be a bit nervewracking. Just take it slow and don't twist too much at once.
