Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking for a while and actually had a new S6 coming in but with the fragile economy on this side of the world I played it safer and I pick up my new 2015 S4 tomorrow! Pretty excited, it is a 2015 Glacier White Metallic Technik 7sp with Carbon inlays and Sport diff. I will post pictures later this week. I have decided my first mod will be a stage 2 tune from either APR or GIAC. Right now I am leaning towards GIAC. A co worker in my office is having the Audi dealership in Edmonton do his APR stage 2 tune today. He told me his all in cost for parts and labour including the kit is roughly $3000.

Anyone in the Edmonton area have one of these two tunes? As well can you recommend a shop to do it at? I am not against the Audi dealership doing it, just want to know my options and hear some feedback.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new car! I would recommend driving it for a few thousand miles to make sure there aren't any mechanical/electrical gremlins before tuning.
As far as pricing goes, I thought I remember the total package of AWE Pulley plus GIAC tune being offered 1-1.5 years ago for closer to $2200 (USD) or so. Even in CAD $3000 sounds a bit steep. It might be due to having an Audi dealership do the work. Possibly you could do better at an independent tuner?
In any case, good luck with the new car!

Congrats on the incoming ride..... you are going to love it!!!!! Can't comment on the tune from first hand experience but GIAC seems to be the way to go for the B8.5 cars (especially the 2014/2015's). APR also does not offer a tune for the trans yet where GIAC does... with you having the S-Tronic this is definitely something you should consider.

Congrats! The S6 looks like a monster, but opting for the S4 and $20k in the bank is a smart move.

Edit to add: You might want to look into a clear bra since the paint is soft and the S4 is apparently a rock-chip magnet. I just had Xpel put on it is almost invisible.

Thanks and I agree with you. I plan on driving a couple months to make sure all is well. Im hoping someone on this board from the area chimes in with some options for independent tuners.

Thanks. Even more then that.. MSRP on the S4 here is $62,950 (optioned the way I have it) and the S6 is $88,950 with zero options. I would have been at $100k with the S6. With our roads here I will need to look into a guard for the paint.

Yikes! I haven't really looked into the S6, but think its MSRP starts at ~$72k here vs ~$50k on the S4.

I literally drove my car directly from the dealer and dropped it off at the detailer on Sunday. I went with Xpel clear bra (basically all high-impact areas on the front) and added the full hood, but you can do all different combinations. Ask around for recommendations in your area; the guy I used here was highly recommended and did a great job.

I will give a big fat +1 on the Xpel film!! My car is 2 years old and the front looks basically like the day I drove it off the lot brand new.

personally, i would have bought a gently USED S6 over a new S4, but that's me. There are some nice S6's out there in the low $50's.

the extremes on this forum crack me up though. on one hand, you have people like yourself who are going to jump right into a tune on a new car, i applaud that LOL. why wait? (i did wait for my 5k service) On the other hand, you have guys that buy or lease and wait unilt the lease is up or the warranty is up to tune. life's too short, too much can change in ones life after a couple years. those that bought this car to wait 3-4 years to tune it, you bought the wrong car...

also, +2 on xpel. have it, love it, would do it over in a heartbeat. care is like new with 40k miles.

Ha ha I agree with you but I will wait for about a month or so to make sure everything is strong. I did consider the s6 used but hard to find and even harder to find the way I wanted.
