From what I have read the codes I am getting could mean a cam follower issue and when I searched for the codes that is what came up. The only thing is I do not have a CEL or loss of power like most people who have cam follower problems. I had a CEL but it self reset after a drive and the codes I pulled are posted below.

I have replaced the fuel filter and N205 valve last time I got the P301B code.

I HOPE it is the LPFP but am never that lucky.

Things I am looking at from research are:

Low Fuel Pressure sensor
Cam Follower (checked it about 5 months ago and it was okay)
LPFP

I know how to check the cam follower as I have done it a few times and I found a few posts about the LPFP and how to test it. I plan on testing it with VAGCOM sometime in the next few days. I did the fuel pressure requested and actual with a graph and I was anywhere from spot on to up to 3 bar off the requested. Is this normal for the high pressure side?

I am going to test low pressure side (unless I misunderstood this post http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/632996-P310B-008-Code-Help?highlight=P310B ) and will report back.

My car is running fine, starts fine, and boosts fine so I am hoping its not the cam follower.

Is there anything else I should test for while I am at it?

Codes posted below.

NOTE: I may have had some spirited driving prior to the CEL. The CEL appeared the next time I started the car and disappeared the second time I started the car.

P310B is low pressure fuel system is out of specified range (either above or below, but probably below). Log low pressure fuel system request vs actual pressure to see if actual pressure is dropping below 3 bar at any point or deviating from requested pressure. Also log the control module duty cycle as it may be dying and unable to supply requested fuel pressure.

I started receiving this code when I altered lpfp duty cycle in maestro. It would appear if low pressure fuel system was above 6 bar and under 2.5 bar. In the end I used maestro to delete the cel code. Even though the car runs between 4-6 bar of lp fuel system pressure it would occasionally still throw the p310b coffee if pressure exceeded 6 bar.

My guess is the pump is dying. Other option is it's thr control module. You'll be able tell from logging.

Which block is it to lpfp request vs actual?

Thanks!

There isn't one for specified vs. actual.

Use measuring block group 103 106 and throw in 101.

In 103 you'll see the lift pump (aka LPFP) pressure in bar. Typically the value will float in the high 4's to 5bar at idle. AFTER higher throttle #3000+ rpm you'll see it hit above 6 bar.

In 106 you'll see your lift pump duty cycle. Depending on how old yours is it'll be around 50s-60% during normal driving. I've seen brand new ones measure just above 30%. If it reads consistently in the 80% at idle then It's likely on its last leg.

Group 101 I suggest for engine speed, load, air intake, and injection. Along with the above mentioned blocks inside you'll see rail pressure, fuel pressure regulator duty, and you'll automatically run a lift pump adaptation.

Great tool vagcom is if you learn how to use it. Some guy got lucky and bought a used one this morning in the b7 classifieds for 250 bucks er something.

I did log it but I did not save it. I will do it once more. Sometimes the difference was almost 3bar between the requested and actual though =\

I was dealing with the p310b code a couple months back. ended up being the LPFP. I started a thread about it, Im pretty sure I posted my logs if you want to compare
