Hi i bought a 1998 B5 A4 AEB 1.8T Quattro 5 speed not to long ago and it came with a RP Turbo part # 53049880015. I was told it was a K04 equivalent but i want to know which K04 turbo exactly. I also want to see a flow chart for this RP turbo and the stock K03 turbo for this car. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Turbo is garbage. It is destined to blow. Ko4-015.

Yeah, if not installed do not install it.

Mine blew in ~500 miles.

I got it replaced for free with another unit.

And then I sold it.

And he blew it with in 500 miles.

buying a cheap turbo is not like buying cheap coils. shit will go bad quite quickly.

Since this thread is going the same way as every aftermarket turbo thread is, I'd like to through out another aftermarket manufacturer. Rotomaster. I've done some research on them, and Rockk Auto started to carry them. $400 for a new k03. Thoughts? They seem like it might be worth the gamble to me. It doesn't say on their website where they are made, but the Rock Auto site claims they are made in "North America."

Well that's the thing. They were not necessarily cheap, I think mine was $850 or so.

However maybe things have changed but Rotomaster was as legit as Borgwarner. I had a Rotomaster To4-B, that name is the same as throwing around Garrett and such and nothing you could talk smack about. Companies change hand in time, sh*t goes to China and there you go.....fail boat. But if the same company as always they are a sure bet:
