you need a dealer for that i believe and if you're tuned you will get flagged when they plug into audi

It can be done, you just need someone with the right equipment. However rolling mileage is not something legit businesses care allowed to do so you gotta find "a guy".

Did you have to have the immobilizer programmed by the dealer for the new cluster? Or was it plug and play? I know on the B6/B7s the immo was part of the cluster.

These guys should be able to set the proper mileage.

In the US it can be done legally for certain reasons.. aka swapping clusters. they even sell the tools that do it on OBD2 something .com that sells car scanners...

How you can find someone to do it is a different story... not sure

That's typically for rolling back mileage, he's rolling forward to make it accurate. I think there would be a difference especially if there's proof of what it should be. I mean, seriously, what idiot would unnecessarily add miles to their odometer? It sure doesn't help resale lol

an a slightly unrelated note...

anyone know if (or just think) a 2012 S4 cluster could be swapped into my 2015 S4? i like how the speedometer goes up to 200, and how its 20-40-60, as opposed to my intervals of 10.

i think it would have to be specifically out of a 2012 since im pretty sure the 2010's and (maybe) 2011's have the red led screen.

from what ive seen the 2012 looks identical so i dont see why it wouldnt work.... any thoughts?

Have you thought about just keeping the original cluster and get a notarized letter that it was changed on a specific date with pictures? Transfer company might even have specific paperwork for this to be done though your states DMV? Check out his video http://www.instructables.com/id/Odometer-Reprogramming/.
Not Audi, but I wouldn't be surprised if you might have to do something similar. Perhaps not?

Good suggestion about a notarized letter. Your DMV/BMW would probably be able to direct you since generally at time of transfer, you have to attest to the accurate mileage on the car being sold. Here's a place to find out what the Odometer Disclosure Statement requirements are in your state:

Interesting video here about a Cali guy who was rolling back odometers at his house. A late model (B8) Audi shown leaving his premises in the video (3:23ish).

replaced it at home then went to dealer to clear codes, they didn't make any comment about mileage tho
