you know you really didnt have to do all that work the face plate is accually interchangable and you can pick one up from the dealer as far as i know, not sure if the measurments on the b5 navi plus and b6 navi plus are the same though

from everything i had read no one ever mentioned an interchangeable face plate...news to me

this is what i went by...from nav-plus.com:

Except for the part number, the Nav Plus in all models are electrically similar. You must get the correct model for your car, as the face plates are different. Getting the incorrect model will mean the angle of the face plate will be wrong, and it won't fit.

^^ are you serious?? where man, hook me up!

09-18-2005, 08:28 AM
Yea, no shit. How the hell did you land those prices?

i got the navi on ebay germany for 275 euro shipped from the netherlands

cheapest gps antenna i could find, $15/shipped

wires/connector i got from work..$15-20

and the nav cd was about $37 w/ shipping

so maybe a little over $400 but not much

it was a fairly easy install..i didnt switch/hook up all the wires youre supposed to...like the tele wires since i dont have a tele in the car and theres also a reverse signal wire that i didnt run..not 100% sure what its for but i think some cars had an ultrasound sensor in the rear bumper for making backing up easier

if youre really interested in hooking one up in your car then take a look @ http://www.nav-plus.com/instructions/

So, since you got it off German Ebay is it still NA compatible?

09-18-2005, 05:58 PM
like is it plug and play?

no...but none of them are..there is a connector/wires that has to be added and it has to be coded to car w/ a vagcom

it can be changed to english instead of german or dutch or whatever but everything else is the same

only thing is that for the US map cds to work a modified map disc has to be inserted and then all cds will work..im still working on that one [rolleyes]
