Audi/Volkswagen coolant ++, its purple/pink

Or just add some water.

Might have bad waterpump or you got a hole in your secondary air exchanger

Water. Seriously. Unless you are below freezing distilled water = coolant.

Yep, that's it. Not cheap though.

Stock g12 next time. It's never OTC. Add water but since you live in NY be careful, overnight temps are below freezing.

G12 make sure you dilute with water 50/50

Yes, but you want to keep the anti-freeze/water ratio the same. You dilute the g13 coolant.

Is it called g13 now? Well go for that lol.

G13 and G12 are both HOAT coolants. You can use any coolant compatible with HOAT type coolants. Use an "extended life" one. Peak, Prestone, pentosin etc.

I used pentafrost ++ from O'Reilly auto parts. Then mix 50/50 with distilled water.

Wait, was I suppose to dilute it? The tech said no need to dilute. Just add to top off.

There are concentrated mixes and non-concentrated. Think of it like types of chicken soup lol. For concentrated mixes, you determine the freezing point by changing the relative mix to have more/less water.

I used pentofrost and did 50/50 with distilled water per the directions. See my build thread and I posted a photo of the bottle. Post #176.

So woke this morning, empty again. I'm out of state at the moment. What are my options?

Dealer if you're under warranty. You have a leak (says captain obvious LOL). Not something you want to travel a great distance with.

Do you have any protection for the small radiator in the front? Up until 2014, Audi put no protection on these and they've been known to get punctured by road debris. Like someone above said, temporary solution is distilled water, but it's pretty close to freezing outside right now, so be careful with that.

Like everyone else said, mix g12 with distilled water. You can get by with adding distilled water in a pinch. DO NOT MIX G12 with another coolant. You will need to flush your cooling system throughly before you change coolant types. If you don't, it will congeal.

G12, G12+ and G12++ have been replaced by G13.
If you just need a little to top off water is fine.

Pentosin, Vaico, and some other companies carry similar fluids, Pentafrost ++ for example is one such alternative. Just make sure they say G13 compatible.

I thought we needed G12 ++, rather than G12 or G12+? I understand that G13 will replace all of them . But could you uses G12 or G12+ if you had some on hand? BTW I have G12 ++.

They may not be the right choice for an Audi

G12, g12+, g12 ++ and g13 are all backwards compatible. DO NOT USE G11. Commercially available HOAT coolants like posted above should be compatible but check the labels.

Ok so update, drove it to the closest dealer, Danbury Audi in CT. Guy said that my DIY intercooler protector screen actually punctured the intercooler. So warranty won't cover it. Gonna cost me $750. seems like bs to me. Any advice?

Not understanding how the screen would cause a puncture.

Might have to fork over regardless. Sucks.

That sounds somewhat bogus. More likely a projectile of some sort from the road hit and damaged the intercooler. Can you see any bends in the cooling fins or determine where the leak is actually coming from? Many have installed the protective screens without issue, so unless you followed some unorthodox installation procedure (e.g., attaching it to the cooler with sheet metal screws), it shouldn't have caused a leak. How long have you had the protective screen installed?

I would go there and inspect it. See if that is the case.

The center supercharger radiator is $198

It doesnt look like they are completely ripping you off as much as I have seen other dealerships do. I'd guess you could get an independent to do the job for $500 or so.

Going to pic it up now. I requested to save the old parts so I can inspect it myself. I'll post pics later tonight.
