View Full Version : Buying an A3

hi. I'm new to the forum but i've been cheaking out the site for soe time gathering different research. I was considering to get a 2001 s4 but ruled that out because of matainance and the insurance would be way too high due to the fact that im 18. I went and test drove a 2004 manual 1.8 A4. but i felt it was underpowered. then i drove a 2004 manual 3.0 A4, it was better but nothing that wowed me. Then the salesman who ive dealt with before told me to drive the 2006 A3 2.0T. I loved it the paddle shifting was amazing. i was blown away with how quickly it changed gears. Well long and short of it is i got him down to 30,390 for a silver A3 2.0T Sport, with Xenons the bose sound system, the open sky system, and the cold weather package. Do you guys think thats a good deal. by the way there are none around here with the options that i want so i'd have to order it. I dont think i could get it any lower. Any suggestions. i live in upper central jersey. if that helps

Deal sounds pretty good. I'd have to look at the invoice to know for sure. Instead of ordering one you could also have the dealer locate and transfer one. Should only add a couple hundred bucks to the price but takes 3-5 days versus 3 months.

That's a pretty good deal, from all the numbers I have seen so far from the US A3s, it seems pretty good. But like Anthony said, check the invoice price at edmunds. In Canada, 3-4% off MSRP seems to be a good deal.

the price the dealer gave me was 300 over invoice. and he could not locate any with the options and color i wanted.

$300 over invoice is amazing. You won't get much better than that!

Buy it. [up]

I agree. I say if that is what you pretty much want then go for it. The price sounds great with all those options, and no waiting involved. Isn't it all about instant gratification...

I just went to test drive a A3 and I like it but all the electrical components scare me....Has anyone had electrical problems with the A3?

That's my biggest concern with buying an Audi. I'm moving from a Honda so I think it will be hard for me to deal with little problems. I never had any problems out of my prelude. I even test drove a model with the DSG and I think I can get used to it from driving a manual.

My other choices are a Acura TSX and Subaru WRX wagon. I was surprised that the insurance rate quote on the A3 was cheaper than the WRX.

In Canada (Toronto), WRX especially the STi is rated as the highest (price per car)/insurance. Too many drivers think they are invincible driving a STi.

As for electrical problems, haven't heard anything so far in the NA market. There are some minor engine light problems that existed in Europe but nothing that wasn't covered by the 4 years warranty that we get in NA.

i was told 30765 for the same package without the xenons! so 31265 with xenons..

i'll be negotiating that down to your price now! =)

although i'm now thinking about waiting til may/june '06 when the 2.0T quattro comes here finally.
