View Full Version : Feels like engine is moving around too much after tune?

I just got Unitronic stage 2+ and it's so much faster. However, under full throttle in 2nd and 3rd especially the engine feels like it's under so much load that it's moving around.

Now, while I know this incompletely normal because the engine is exposed to a much greater torque but the question here - is there is a way to make the engine move around less?

Has anyone else experienced this? I also think maybe it's the transmission moving around too, I know they just came out with a better transmission mount.

Any fixes to this?

I have not physically felt the engine moving around while driving. But when it was on the dyno last week I did see it lurch pretty good around red line.

Just figured that was normal....

Get density engine mounts and a transmission mount insert and boom you're good.

So will stage 2 eat up the stock mounts if not upgraded to those? Any other damage possible if you don't upgrade the mounts?

Bad motor mounts aren't a common issue; I'd say no to your first question, and definitely no to your second. The stock mounts are very good as the hydraulic fluid pressure can be modulated by the computer. Stiffness is adjusted depending on driving conditions.

However, it makes sense that driving the car hard would make the stock mounts wear faster, and that added torque of stage 2 could further increase the stresses on them. I'd think that driving habits play the biggest role in determining life span, not power level.
