Hey guys! I am unfortunately selling my 2011 brilliant black s4. Sad day, I know, but I am going to be traveling for the next two years and I want a B9 when i get back :)

I have been trying to sell the car for a few weeks now and have been wondering if maybe my pricing is slightly too high? any advice would be much appreciated!

The car-
46,000 miles
Brilliant black
19" premium wheels with michelin super sports
18" alzor reps w snow tires
B&O sound
rubber mats and standard mats

asking price- $31,900

The car has a minor accident on the carfax report (the bumper was hit in a parking lot) but has all service records etc on the car.

The car in in great condition with a few small scratches from normal driving however there are 0 dents and dings and has been garaged the whole time!

thanks for the help!

Stay firm at $31,900, 2 or 3k higher would even be fair

The price is fine, it's the accident scaring people

An accident can be a significant issue when trying to sell or trade in a car. Try getting it appraised at a place like CarMax to gauge how much of an impact the accident should have on pricing. Obviously you won't be able to sell for the same price as the same car with no accident.

I think its tough to sell a car with an accident regardless of the price. When I was looking for my S4 buying one with a bad carfax wouldnt have even been an option if it was 10k cheaper. I know that your was very minor but once people see someth8ng on the carfax they run

My car was just hit in a parking lot as well and while I'm not selling right now this is a timely thread. Did you receive a diminished value claim from the at fault insurance, did you pursue one?

Did you check listings in your area for similar cars to get an idea of local pricing? People could definitely be worried about the accident, but the really scary thing is trying to keep a black car clean [;)]

Adding pictures of the minor accident to your ad might help.

DSG or 6mt? Sport Dif? Nav?

+1 any of those options make a diff in price, is it a base with B&O or anything else on it?

costs too much to pursue this. unless you have significant damage and the recovery will be worth it, its not worth going after for something like bumper damage. I was bumped at a red light but had to report it because i was not paying out of pocket to fix it. I took lots of photos and will provide them to anyone interested in buying my car later.

in all honesty, with proper documentation, something like a minor bumper repair would not stop me from buying an immaculate car. My car is perfect inside and out and meticulously maintained. Someone will see value in that. same goes for everyone else. If you have a perfect car, it shouldnt be a problem. but once you start adding up issues, the accident is exponentially worse.

When you advertise it, do not disclose the accident or vin in the original advertisement. Make people talk to you and start the conversation. Many will even come look at it before they start to ask about accidents/carfax. Then they can see the car and you can disclose the accident with the explanation and photos so they can see what happened.

I sold a car for my brother that was a similar situation. Hit at a stoplight, rear bumper replaced. I did not disclose till I started talking with a buyer. Explained to them, they were able to inspect and see that there was absolutely no visible signs of any work, then they verified with carfax.

They ended up buying and paying the premium I was asking because the rest of the car was immaculate and in perfect mechanical shape.

no nav, no mmi, no sport diff, dinged up carfax...

I have a 2011 43k sport diff, mmi, black optics, separate winter setup with nokians, clean carfax, listed for 33,000, and id probably go down to 31k for an easy transaction.

I've been coming to that realization. My car needed a new r fender and front bumper and some bumper brackets. I also wasn't expecting more than 30 k if that when I go to sell my car lol

I just bought from a private seller a 2011 prestige dsg w/43k and CPO until Feb. 2017. Interior is spotless, carfax had a minor accident listed, some rear bumper damage that dealer fixed before it was CPOd. Had a PPI done and inspector said he couldn't see any sign of structural damage, could hardly tell anything was repaired. For $28k I think I got a solid deal
