Hello Audizine,

I wanted to ask a question for help. I am working on the timing belt on my 2006 B7 2.0T, and after reading the guides, I thought it was simple and straight forward. I've done the timing belt job on a MKiV 1.8T, volvo's and thought I could handle this but as always, unexpected things come up.

I have been blessed to have the A4 engine with the metal tube that goes around the front of the engine for the turbo coolant pipe. In all the guides, I see the turbo coolant pipes being a rubber hose that extends just to the edge of the engine and can be moved to the side. Unfortunately for me, I can't. I've attached the images that show the hose as an album since I don't have the necessary posts to upload shots.. I am out of ideas and think the only way to move forward is to start taking the turbo off the engine to get this hose out of the way.

If anyone can suggest any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated as this is my main car and I need to get it fixed quickly.

I believe the banjo bolt to be an 8mm allen key but read online that it can be a triple square or a T55 torx bit. I honestly can't reach around to see it either.

If anyone has ideas on how to get this damn hose off, please chime in.

I had the same issue and couldn't do anything more than pull on the rubber hose and try to pry out on the metal hose to give me the space I needed. I eventually got it out far enough to get the cover off to expose the timing belt. I don't know if there is a revised part that does away with that hard line or not. Probably hard line due to heat at turbo. I know this isn't the most glorified way of doing it, but it worked for me. I also loosened the pipe near the intake manifold side to give me some more slack. Can't speak for the bolt size, but if you can remove it that is probably your best bet. Never tried when I did it. Hope this helps [up]

I tried pulling on that hose but I'm afraid of breaking it. And then I don't have a way to button her up and take her to the shop. It would need to be towed.

Frustrating that exact same engine had rubber hose around the front. Perhaps Audi quickly learned when people came to service this and put a rubber hose to make the front more serviceable without taking the turbo off...
