034Motorsport is please to present our new Billet Aluminum Rear Differential Carrier Mount Insert Upgrade for the B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4! The factory Audi rear differential carrier bushings have voids in the rubber damping medium, which results in excessive rear differential movement (twisting) under load. This movement allows for unwanted drivetrain slop (and sometimes clunks) than can be observed when accelerating, decelerating, and shifting.

These billet aluminum inserts are designed to fill the voids in the factory B6/B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4 rear differential carrier mounts, and limit rear differential movement without sacrificing ride quality or introducing any additional noise, vibration, or harshness into the cabin. By filling the voids in the factory mounts, these inserts eliminate the associated slop and ensures that you're experiencing smoother shifting and throttle transitions, and an improved driving experience.

I received my set in the mail this weekend and just installed the parts. Quality is great and fitment is perfect.

One thing to note is that while the 034 instructions say to loosen the 18mm hex head bolt going through differential carrier mount and back it out as far as possible without unthreading it completely from the nut on the other side of the mount, I was unable to insert the Securing Washer into place without first backing the bolt out of the nut.

Overall the install was straightforward. I'll update with more feedback once I go for a drive.

Okay I just got back from a drive with the 034 rear diff. mount inserts installed. When these were first announced I was a bit skeptical about whether they would provide any real benefit.

First impression is that there is noticeably less slop between shifts. The car feels more firm, especially the shift from 1st to 2nd. The improvement between shifts is comparable to what I felt when upgrading to an aftermarket snub mount. I am happy with this purchase.

We sent out a survey recently to everyone who had received the first run of inserts, and so far the response has been 100% positive!

I've had a set in my B7 since we first developed them, and really like the reduced slop. Engaging the clutch from a stop ha a much more direct feel, and shifts are crisper with less hesitation. The diff also twists around a lot less on hard launches, which makes launches more consistent and drama-free. [up]

Keith purchased his Panther Black Audi TT RS in May of 2014 after seeing Matt Farrah's review of a modified example on /DRIVE. Initially drawn to the TT RS by it performance, rarity, and tunability, Keith decided to use his car for both daily-driving duties and weekends at the track. The need for functional upgrades which are effective on the street and track - paired with Keith's desire to push his car's performance to the next level - quickly brought him to 034Motorsport.

034Motorsport has been modifying turbocharged 5-cylinder Audi engines for over a decade, and developing performance products and tuning for the Audi TT RS since it first arrived in the USA. I don't know about the A4, but this same mod with 034 parts on my S4 made a huge difference, especially compared to my expectations. The front diff mount was not as noticeable a change as these rear diff mounts were.

So I have one of these for my A4 Quattro tip. I would say for a tip the benefit of this part would be less than the manual however there is definitely some increased sharpness in shifts. My installation tip however is USE LUBE AND LOTS OF IT. Silicon or lithium grease up the carrier mount good and the insert because once you put it in there it really needs to be jammed all the way in otherwise that washer isn't going on and you'll be stuck with a half done job. If you do get into a situation where you need to push them with additional force in I used an oil socket and an extremely large wrench and levered against the spare wheel well to lever it in.

Difference between the street and track snub bracket?
The "Street" bracket leaves a small ~1/8" air gap around the poly snub mount to minimize NVH transfer at idle, cruise, and light load. The "Track" version is perfectly snug around the poly snub mount, which means slightly less movement, but quite a bit more NVH transfer.

I'd recommend the "Street" setup for most people. It's what I run in my car as well. [cool]

While the Apikol mount replaces the front-most mount for the rear differential (circled in red below), the 034Motorsport Rear Differential Carrier Inserts install into the two rear-most mounts for the rear differential carrier (circled in blue below), to prevent twisting of the rear differential housing under load, between shifts, and during launches.

Bought a set about a month ago from ECS Tuning, makes significant difference in shifting both up and down, and coasting while in gear. Well worth the price too. Easy install, just make sure to support the differential with a jack and to put the silicone grease on the inserts before you install them.

I have street density motor mounts, transmission mount, ECS tuning rear differential mount, 034 rear carrier mount, and finally Apikol snub mount.

How much of a difference would the snub mount bracket make in my setup? I'm always looking for ways to improve engine response and shifting.

It will make a nice difference. It will reduce up and down movement of the engine which will help with shifting and wheel hop. I would highly recommend it as there is a large gap between the bushing and the bracket!
