I have an 05 B7 A4 Quattro. Bought some rims. And they have a 38mm offset but will not clear my calipers. Anybody else had this problem? I was told to try spacers, 5mm. I've never had to use spacers before. Do I need new studs now? Thanks guys.

What type of wheels? BBS LM reps or anything with a very flat face?

And yes, with spacers you will also need longer bolts to compensate. Lots of info on here if you search.

Typically a small spacer will help with caliper clearance. But it also depends on how close you are to your fender as a spacer could cause some rubbing. You only need a few MM of clearance for calipers though since they are fixed and don't move. 3-5mm should be all you need.

You'll get better advice if you provide information on your full setup. Stock calipers? What size wheels? And as far as rubbing if you put spacers on are you on stock suspension and what size tire are you running on unknown sized wheel?

Does anyone else feel, idk, "cheap" or "dirty" when you hear wheels being called rims?

They are 18x8 Ruff Racing R357 with 235/40/18 rubber. All the suspension and braking is stock. I searched the internet and came up with a lot that I didn't feel it helped me. The spacer that is getting sent to me are 5mm. Even at 5mm you think I will still need longer studs?

When ever I hear "rims" I think of a bicycle, or a wheel that involves spokes. I guess it could be used when referring to a car if you are running Daytons. But in most cases "wheel/s" is more appropriate.

I just think of the ghetto, like a Caprice raised up on 24" Chromes, so high off the ground you'd think a flood was coming

Why not, piece of mind. I've never ran less than 10mm so I always get lugs. Just make sure you buy the appropriate seat lugs. Before I did anything though I'd have a look to see if moving the wheel 5mm closer to the fender is going to even solve the issue of the wheel not fitting over the caliper, it may not be related to offset at all.
