View Full Version : No sounds from diverter valve

I have a 2000 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro(stock) And I just replaced my diverter valve with the 710n cause the stock one was fluttering. I finished the install and took the car for a ride to realize that now I don't hear the boost release at all. Is this normal? I could hear it pretty good with the stock 710. Does it have to break in? Or did I mess something up? Any help would be appreciated

Also I am running it in normal oreintation cause when I get stage one I don't want to tear the diaphragm

Release? All you hear is a hissing/whine during spoil. It's a DV, not a BOV.

I know it's a dv but when I boost it and release the throttle it should still release the pressure back into the TIP

If you're still running the OE airbox setup, that muffles pretty much everything that could possibly make noise. DV is near silent, induction noise is non-existent, etc.

Do you have a boost guage? You will know instantly if it's working or not. If you want that sound, get the forge splitter valve.

I do have the stock airbox and a boost gauge. The gauge drops to -22 right after I let off the throttle. But what I'm saying is that my stock one you could hear it slightly if you listened. For instance I would boost it let off the throttle and the stock one you would hear a very faint pew. The new 710n you absolutely hear nothing at all for instance when I gas it I hear it spool up the spool down nothing else. What would be the symptoms of it not opening?

You say dv is near silent. Which would imply it makes a little noise. I'm saying that I fitted a new one and no noise at all

Video of acceleration looking at the boost gauge please.

I have an APR R1 dv and a cone style filter, I can hear the dv open. However I never noticed it when I was in stock form.

No sound = good thing

Are you even tuned? That could be why no sound. Not enough PSI to make any noise.

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you're not holding boost when you let off the throttle, it should be working.

You shouldn't be able to hear a DV on a stock (or near stock) car. 22inHg sounds fine, what boost (psi) do you reach?

Your dv is working perfectly. You have nothing to worry about.

I reach about 9 peak 7-8 constant. So is the noise I was hearing for the stock 710 shouldn't have been there? I fitted a forge 007 today and still no sound at all. But I did notice that I tryed a test drive with no vacuum line hooked up to the forge and I could hear it slightly.

Yeah..don't do that.

You're running stock boost with a stock air box and a 710N, I'm not surprised you can't hear the DV open. Get the car chipped, get a Carbonio intake or an open air style filter (at the expense of sucking in hotter air), and you'll hear that 007 just fine.

Here's mine recorded with the crappy mic on my dash camera from inside the car.

Yeah o guess that makes sense having such low pressure it's just doesn't make a lot of noise realesing that little bit of air. I guess the thing that really confused me was the fact that my stock one had a sound. But it was more of a flutter and there wasn't mich spring resistance on diaphragm anymore. So could the noise I was hearing actually be a worn out valve? So by replacing it with a good one I no longer have noise? Also could somebody point me in the direction of a good stage one tune Iv been looking around everywhere and just havnt found one iv decided on. I kinda like apr but is it worth the price. And I want a tune that will be easily modded and tuned again (stage 1+, stage 2, etc)

Yes, it's possible your old DV was worn out and now everything is sealed and working properly.

Contact K0mpresd (http://www.audizine.com/forum/member.php/3360-k0mpresd). He will set you up with a good tune for half of what an APR tune costs. "Stage 2" is simply a rear O2 sensor delete which he can do as well.
