These will fit C7/B8 A4 style steering wheels, either round of flat bottom. Won't fit the shield airbag C6 ones, the connectors are a bit different.

What do notice that's better functionally? I was under the impression that these were a cosmetic change...

^They are larger so shifting from higher up on the wheel than 9 and 3 oclock is much easier/faster. Below shot of shorties from '13 to facelift '14 or '15.

how do you install these? do you have to take off the part of wheel/airbag etc?

Hi,
all you gotta do is unclip the airbag and set it aside and then pull on the triangle that holds the multifunction steering wheel buttons. It pops out and the paddles just bolt in.
