hello, i want to ask what do you say about the 7.th gear of the s-tronic with a tune 4xx hp.

in germany there is one company that give an exta notice "dont go into the 7th gear(on full power), even in manual mode, dont go into 7, to avoid transmission failure"

i didnt hear this from other tuning companys, what are your infos about that ?

by the way, the vmax of the 7th is (digital) 340kph / 211mph ... (GPS) about 320kph / 198mph [drool] [:)]

best wishes from germany :)

Interesting, maybe too much torque for the gear ?? Haven't heard this before.

Well if thats true I wouldn't want to take the S4 above 180 anyways. Without a lot of other upgrades

normaly i knew that the 7th gear is the "economy" gear for highway for example /

verry interesting how "stabil" is the 7th gear. never heard of real transmission damaged, except mechatronik failout

This true of any car and overdrive gearing. It puts a ton of strain on the engine to go wot in overdrive.

You would need to be going obscenely fast to be WOT in 7th gear. Im not actually sure the car will let you, it seems overly mothering of the 7th gear.

I"m not certain I understand fully what you are saying..In theory the car should go 211 mph with 400 plus hp and using 7th gear (overdrive)? That doesn't take into consideration wind resistance or anything else, right?

I believe he is saying his friend tested it, top speed is 211mph. So the gear is maxed at 211, 198 is considering resistance.
Wants insight on what other people think because he doesn't want the transmission to grenade.

You can be going 60km/h in 7th and go WOT

And this is why it's not the best idea.

Has nothing to do with top speed....

Even with stage 2+, you're not making 400bhp until 4500rpm at minimum. I'm not sure if you're saying "don't go full throttle in 7th (ever)", or "don't go full throttle in seventh while at low RPM/cruising RPM".

Either way it's bogus.

How..? The DSG will kick-back if you attempt full throttle even in manual mode?

If you go full throttle but don't activate the kick-down it's still full throttle.

Not sure if i remember correctly but I don't think it will let you in 7th while in Dynamic mode and this might be why.

If I so much as breathe on the accelerator in 7th gear, Comfort mode, on a level grade it will go down into 6th. The only time my car will accelerate while in 7th is when cruise control does it, even then if CC is off by more then 5km/h it'll drop into 6th to accelerate.
