In my weekly viewing of Audi S6's, I ran across an interesting ad that lists an S6 but has an A6 badge on the trunk. I found it an the AutoTrader listing (http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?endYear=2015&zip=80026&listingType=used&listingTypes=used&mmt=%5BAUDI%5BS6%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&lastExec=1422162443000&modelCode1=S6&sortBy=distanceASC&showcaseOwnerId=68495607&makeCode1=AUDI&startYear=2012&maxMileage=30000&extColorsSimple=GRAY%2COFFWHITE%2CWHITE&searchRadius=0&listingId=391358879&Log=0). It has the S6 badge on the front, the V8T badge on the sides and the S6 guages. It threw me off to see the A6 badge on the trunk.

Very strange.

that looks pretty legit, that is WEIRD, maybe an A6 with an S-Line pkg or something?

I'm pretty sure it is an S6, just has an A6 badge on the back.

Just ask for a picture of the engine, problem solved. But that is still weird

Twin exhaust, steering wheel, seats, other trim says it is an S6 also.

Maybe prior owner debadged the rear and a less than attentive dealer service guy replaced it with the A6 badge.

That would make sense. Could also be an undeclared accident, with replaced rear trunk. CARFAX is clean, but I would carefully examine the rear if I were interested in buying it.

Could be the reason why the owner turned it back in after less than two years of owning it.

That ain't Quartz grey either (which is the color listed on the ad). Boy this audi dealership is just spot on the details.

That's what I'm thinking.

It's likely been in an accident, repaired on the cheap as to avoid the incident impacting the CarFax and is now being sold as a CPO.

Had similar situation with a different Audi dealer, twice. Granted the badges were correct on the car. This screams accident though.

or maybe the previous owner just wanted to be a little less conspicuous.

I bet it was the s6 owner that wanted to be a little more reserved about badging. I know other brands that do this for the the sleeper effect.

A CPO car can be an accident vehicle. It definitely doesn't come with an A6 badge from the factory. The only possible reason I can think of is a rear accident that required repainting on the car. Based on my experience I would keep away from it even if its CPOed and has pretty good offer on it.

Now that's funny!

I wonder if the Car fax said anything about a lease? Sometimes cars get turned in every two years for Corporate leases.

The guy was cheating his insurance company! Told them is was an A6 for better premiums - when he pulls up to his insurance agents office he makes sure to back her in! I know, the VIN would tell a different story but there are those people out there!
