Hopefully everyone driving this car has found a place where they can use every facet of its engineering without a high risk of getting arrested! :)
For those of us lucky enough to live in the Pacific Northwest, there exists a 68 mile long playground 30 miles South of Eugene, OR that is perhaps the greatest drivers road I have ever engaged. I am referring to the Jason Boe Corridor.
The section begins in Drain, OR and exits at Reedsport. The road was repaved 4 years ago and exists as a smooth, black, sheet of prime asphalt. The road follows the Umpqua River through old growth rainforests and is loaded with extreme hairpins, flat straightaways and hill climbs. Your main competition for a lane is a steady volume of logging trucks. There are plenty of passing lanes on the inclines and the trucks are easy to overtake :)
The topography of the watershed necessitates that the road is built with a deep culvert ditch on the South side and a steep cliff on the North side. There is virtually nowhere for a cruiser to park. By using Google earth on the nav and an Escort Redline, I am able to see any driveways approaching (very few) and can drive accordingly when appropriate.
The road exits the rainforest into a sprawling gold meadow with an Elk preserve.
An hour from there you are sitting on the patio at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort...
Enjoy!
