ok so i picked up some coils from a fellow AZ member (very cool guy may i add) and im wondering how everyone fits jacks under their sides. I have V2 sides so im hangin' kinda low, but when i slam my car i know im not going to be able to fit my jack under there...any suggestions?

also...

im installing my coils on sat morning, already have a spring compressor, is there anything i should watch out for/ anything tricky? its a FWD by the way.

thanks

try driving onto a 2x4 or something....might give you just enough room to fit it under there. Plus some jacks go lower than others make sure you got a jack that rest really low.

if you are too low i would drive it on some wood (2"x4") and you should be able to jack your car up from the sides. also, i have a craftsman low profile jack that's awesome. i think wallmart or kragen sells a similar product for less than $100.

edit: damnit jent got to it first! lol

Yep drive onto something. I have the craftsman low pro as well. I used to have to drive onto 2 2x12s but now I can just drive onto one since I just raised it up a bit.

either that, or if your scissor jack will fit under it, slip that in- raise it enough to fit a regular jack in.

^^^ Exactly. My Chevelle is on the ground and I can't get a regular floor jack under that thing at all. I use one of those little mini jacks to get under the car to raise it up just enough to use a regular jack. Tho, if you dont want to spend the money for a smaller jack, the wood certainly works too.

ColumbiaDeath- at stock sport susp. height my stock jack wont work at all. it hits the side skirts.

jent & OutkastSL- i have a low jack that i picked up from autozone a while back, but witg the car slammed it wont fit, i know it. ill try the 2x12 thing though.

anyone ever installed coilovers?

well...i'm on 18's 225/40/18 and my front fender to floor measures right below 25". with stock sides and my craftsman aluminum low pro jack, i have no problems.

oh well, just drive up on something (wood/brick).

I have a low profile jack that sits about 3" flat and will certainly fit under many low cars. I got it at costco for $75. with 3500 lbs. capacity

my front lip is 2.75 inches off the ground. i drive up onto a set of ramps i made out of 2 by 12s then i swing the lift arms under the car and up she goes

when i had my v1 sides I had to put the jack in from the center and then push it towards the front or rear.

I have a stock sport suspension and stock sideskirts, and I can barely fit my jack (a michelin pro-series) under the jacking points. I have to push it under there pretty hard.

Get a 8' long 2x6.

Cut it into 2' lengths.

Screw or nail them together in pairs so you have 2, 2 foot long 4x6's.

Trim one end at an angle so it looks like a doorstop or mini wooden rhino ramp.

Just drive up in it for extra clearance.

If you pull the ramps after you jack the car up, don't forget to put them back before you lrt the car down! :p
