you look like you have an '01. if you do, you dont need a harness, just the r8 coilpacks

I think op wants to redo the wiring itself at the same time. I also run the 034 one. There are cheaper alternatives, but this one was the cleanest to me.

I think the cleanest is the way I did it. splice into the wiring harness and use heat shrink butt connectors and heat shrink tubing. no need for the connections

Cleanest way to do it is depin. How many extra hours you got on your hands?

I guess. all I know is that my completed job looks better than factory

yea im going with this for the conversion
http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-Quattro-1.8T/Search/SiteSearch/Coil/ES2713404/

but some of my plugs are broken I honestly don't know how they stay connected so basically I want to replace the connectors and the harness because the insulation is cracking of course so I want do it all while im in there

Another potential (and cheaper) option would be to de-pin the connectors, put on new insulation / heatshrink tubing, and replace the connectors themselves. This would save from having to cut and re-wire anything and can still look clean if you take your time with it (would probably still be less time than splicing in a new harness).

Also may I ask why you want the ECS Tuning "conversion" plate? You can run 2.0T coilpacks straight on your car without that, and save ~$60 in the process. I mean, I guess it looks pretty but it certainly isn't necessary.

i second this. I picked up a harness that was already modified to splice in the AEB.
Love the quality and look of the 034 harness. depin and redo the deutch connector and it looks great in my opinion.
You dont need the tool btw. You can use regular crimpers and a pick just fine to assemble etc the connector.

well the basic I would want to is just replace the connectors I don't know if I want to put a crap ton of heat shrink on the wires but I might have to if i cant find a harness

and honestly I thought I had to get some kind of spacer but if it wont hurt to just put them in without the spacers ill do that

This is what you want. They used to be $50 bucks. (Thanks, Obama!)

yea the amazon might be kind of sketchy I think ill spend the extra 35 and get the ecs one it should work on my awm shouldn't it? and is it true that I don't need the spacers for the 2.0 conversion

redline380

You don't need spacers for the awm. I used the stock coil boots on the r8 coils though.

And search for pn H11001 on rock auto. the plugs are $15/piece on there http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=3763857&cc=1368086

Yes it will work fine. You are just after the connectors and some wires. The rest is elbow grease.

Yes. You have heard no lies, the coil packs will fit and stay put without the adapters. But they look nice and make things look more proper.

GrapeBandit

you dont need the coil adapters to make them stay put. I chose to spend the money on a euro valve cover instead, glad I did. thanks metalman[up]

If you put a little effort into it, you can make any valve cover look good. Mine is an AWM, but I still like the look of the AGN

that is definitely clean but I don't like the gap between the coil and the vc I do like the agn vc I would like that vc with the black spacers would look real clean I want to get the new harness then get the cover for the wires so it looks extra clean how did u get ur hands on the agn?

i still haven't figured out how to get rid of my "incorrect purge flow" occasional CEL from my evap delete though.

Where my turbo is placed and my ordeal of blowing so many T3 gaskets in the past (so glad I got this squared away), I went through so many engine harnesses just for the ignition coil section. My car is a manual, and I have an auto harness in there right now. Last time around this was the cheapest option, and figured they could not be that much different (figured the differences and made it work). Last time it happened (even after Auto harness purchase), I said f*ck it and purchased the 034 one. Main reason is I now wanted to route the wires away from my exhaust side of the engine. So glad I spent the money on it.

Even tried the OEM sheathing and it still got burnt...

Just two harness sections, both redone. Injectors and ignition coils. So happy I did the injectors too. Now need to do something about the cam sensor section of that harness.

yea idk it just looks so cluttered.
Obviously it makes no difference on performance.
I'm cheap though, if i can shorten and tuck wires for free i do it because well...its free and i feel like ive accomplished something.

the gap isnt that bad, at least not for me. any of the spacers wouldnt work because they are notched out to go left/right, while my coil packs go diagonal.

i bought my agn from another member(MetalMal), it was just plain aluminum then, but i painted it. they can be found new for around $90.

how do you get a CEL[confused] no CEL light should come on. i dont get a CEL, i used a 330ohm 1/2 watt resistor[wrench]

i plan on tucking a bunch of my wires/ painting and restoring everything that is bare metal now and probably getting a passat cover for the drivers side.

The IE adapters that i have are also diagonal...just in the other direction.

i bought the resistor that IE sold that was reccomended on another forum and it didnt work. I will have to try and source a resistor like you have. You just stuffed it into the n80 connector or soldered it in?

lol.

the 330ohm 1/2 watt resistor was bought from radioshack. it was a 5pk for $1.98. it is just stuffed into the N80 connector right now, but when I get a chance I will solder it in. I also used the same resistor to delete my N75 and run a stand alone MBC[up]

no, but all you need is the IE or 034 block breather adapter, a hose clamp, and I think its a 3/4" hose to dump. think my hkse is 3' long. I habe it going down, over the driver axle, and dumping to the ground by the transmission. everything else that was connected to the PCV needs to be plugged(hole in turbo inket pipe, and I believe you cap 2 nipples on the intake manifold). I deleted the PCV system and the EVAP system

You will also have a hose running from your valve cover aswell.

I'll probably go to a catch can after the rebuild as I get a decent oil coating all over the bottom of kit car where the pcv is dumped.
