I have a B5 A4 1.8t quattro, I have the opportunity to buy a 2004 1.8t quattro for $300. The seller thinks the timing belt went, car turns over but won't stay running. This car has 200k plus on it. If I buy this for parts can I swap wheels, seats and other various parts?

Yes, yes you can. Some things swap over easily such as the wheels and others may take more work such as maybe the seats depending what each car has. You may be able to make some cash fixing the 2004 depending on what you can get a motor for if this is what is needed and then flip it. You may find you like the 2004 more and sell your B5. For $300 if you have the space and time you can make money off if it.

Is it worth it with well over 200k on the engine though? I'm looking at probably 1200 by the time I do the belt and some other small things.

A $300 '04 B6 is worth atleast $301 in parts so whether you decide to fix and flip or part out it's a win win.

if it cost you another $900 in timing belt and som3 valves, you need to find a new place to buy your parts from[headbang]

No the belts cheap problem is I don't know how to do it. Guess I could try what's the worst that could happen, I junk it and get my money back.

The bare minimum a car like that would be listed around here would be $1500 and gone in less than a day. Used head, timing belt and flipped for $5000

Yea I guess that's a good point.
