I went with a turbo that was a bit larger than the frankenturbo... I have no tune.. and the car has a fast vroom vroom sound on partial throttle... sorry bit of a new here. Strange throttle sound. I was thinking maybe stock dv might not hold this pressure? I bought a new n75 from dealer because old one pooped out. Any thoughts?

Ecu could be cutting fuel. Or closing the throttle plate on you.

thedownwardsprl

Any recommendations for brand of tune?

pbcrazy

You are aware you can write more than one sentence per post correct? You will need a tune, brand of tune really depends on the size of turbo and the year/model/specs of your car which you still haven't given us.

youre gonna kill that motor.
did you do any research before you decided to do this?

Yeah seriously, you cant just slap on a big turbo and make big power with these things... Hopefully you've got some supporting bits installed already

Ebay special turbo?

thedownwardsprl

Not ebay...but the car is a 97 1.8t ae b and sorry guys work alot hard to get on here often

Swapped out air intake hose n75 and have a forge not yet installed. Not looking for mean power.

My guess is that you need a tune. I doubt an off the shelf tune such as Revo or APR will work. Likely have to get something custom.

It's a Prothe ebay turbo, TDI guys "love" his parts.

Couldn't find any on ebay, but did find the tdi threads "praising" him.
Still have no idea what the specs are on this turbo.

Guys it is a great turbo perfectly balanced. Took it to my local diesel guys and checked it. They said it's by far superior to the typical China shit. I've got the Franken in my other audi. ...like this one better

Either way it's an automatic it's coming outta the car. . At least the Franken runs with out tune. I just need the car running

No. No it doesn't. I hope you are cool with two blown motors

Why not? At stock boost levels the FT won't flow enough to max-out what the stock engine/tuning are capable of. Granted it's not an AEB (AWM), but I'm currently running my F21 on a stock tune/injectors with all other supporting mods still installed, and did the same a year ago. It's temporary but still works. Overboost is a primary issue, though.

Not ebay...but the car is a 97 1.8t ae b and sorry guys work alot hard to get on here often

AEB can't cut throttle because it is drive-by-cable, can't limit boost due to excessive boost, and can only limit boost if something is strangely wrong to cause limp mode.

Then the problem I'm experIencing would not be the tune

Probably not.
You mentioned that you are running the stock DV; how old is it? While it may work at stock boost levels, you may still be exceeding stock boost levels with this turbo depending on how the wastegate is set. Sounds like you have a Forge DV you can try installing anyways, so install it, as it's possible the stock DV blew.
Could also be something like an air or exhaust leak.

The Franken should be fine on stock tune, that's what slappy told my buddy anyways and he ran his for almost a year before getting supporting tune/fuel.

Unfortunately I don't have any useful advice for that turbo sorry.

What's the waste gate set at on FT? Low boost should be fine.

Sorry, I guess I assumed a couple more things than I should have. I was assuming he was raising boost some other way besides a tune such as an mbc/diode, because why else would he bother with a bigger turbo? If this is not the case, the frankenturbo's wastegate will still have to turned down for stock levels (they do not come this way unless you specially ask for it)

Stock boost and stock dv However i swapped over to the dv on my other car and it did the same. I seen somewhere in here a guy had a cracked intercooler piping that did this

I don't know I remember trying to move the actuator arm on it before i installed it and it was a bitch to pull on.

I guess you can set that by the nut in the actuator?

The wastegate on the f21's comes set at 8psi

I guess mine didn't like i said it took a good amount of pressure pull the arm. So having no boost guage doesn't help

Update...sorry....long over due.... it was all the p cv system shot to smitherines and the turbo inlet hose was cracked....got a nice one to fit the Franken setup and vr6 maf for 175 bucks. Phenomenal hose and now have silicone pcv and breather hoses. Full boost baby!

Throwing any lean codes?

Never said i had the vr6 maf on it i mentioned the hose was for the vr6 maf and no codes at ask besides n75. I just shimmed the maf to make the maf fit
