Introducing Gauged Designs 2015 gauge face kit for the B5 A4

I'm really proud to officially release the gauge face kit to the B5 A4 community. You may have seen a pre-order campaign launched for this last year and the enthusiasm was overwhelming. To start off 2015, I am going to run another group buy for these kits.

What is it?

These are full replacement faces for your instrument clusters with a design inspired by the 2014 Audi RS lineup. These faces matches the font styling and graphic increments exactly with a few tweaks with regards to the layout and readability.

Main Speedometer units in MPH or KPH (160MPH or 260KPH top speed)
Temperature units in Degrees F or C
Analogue clock (6200RPM) or Digital clock (6400rpm) Tachometer

Cost is $79USD with free worldwide shipping. Who's in?

They would change to the updated design if you swapped the faces. The cluster board itself just has an led that backlights the design in the gauge face.

True but the check lights are in different locations facelift to prefacelift. CEL for instance is on the right side on facelift, but on the left on prefacelift. That's why if he had the updated design on the prefacelift gauges he's selling I'd be all over it.

I'll leave this here but yes, updated the pre-facelift clusters with the instrument symbols in the correct place without the ugly circle design. Of course it also comes in MPH.

ugh well nevermind on this.
I forgot that 98/99 has soldered red LEDs to light the cluster soooo those nice white numbers will be red when illuminated.
I hate that about my cluster now....id have to see one of these installed on a 98/99 to see if i like it.

I know the 97 can be done for sure http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3601410-Geoff-is-bored-so-here-s-a-timeline-running-56k-grab-a-drink&p=47931419&viewfull=1#post47931419

In that thread it says he's not entirely sure which exact year has the soldered lights. Are you sure the 98 has them? And wouldn't you just be able to melt the solder and resolder in white ones? I'm not too familiar with soldering though so I have no idea what I'm talking about really. I don't really mind the red either though.

I'd also like to know how to take advantage of the $79 shipped price.

For me the difference in check lights is completely worth it. The prefacelift giant circle lights are hideous, and the process for wiring in a facelift cluster would be way too time consuming and difficult. I'm planning on keeping my car for life, or until I drive it into the ground and that's what makes the facelifted gauge worth it imo.

Yes, yes it is

If it were for the knob, there would be a hole. But it's the same shade as the blinker spots so it should be for a light. I can see it on my dash when it's bright out, but I've never seen it lit

Some German cars have a light by the odometer that lights up if the mileage doesn't match between ECU and cluster, our cars don't have that ability but maybe some model at some point did.

Correct. Its an indicator light. The knob adjustments are further below the gauge faces.

Review
If I could go back in time and tell myself not to buy these, I would. Not because the product is crap, but because I have a 96. The retarded, red headed orphan stepchild adopted into a rich family. This product was obviously not designed with this model year in mind and I should have left it well enough alone.

The pain staking part of this is that the needles are such a bitch to put back on properly. It will never be as it was since everything will be off a smidge. I'm unhappy with how the indicator lights are misaligned, the amount of cutting I had to do to fit, and the obvious rpm/speedometer not lining up properly with OEM units. This last point in itself is a serious safety concern and an increased chance of getting a speeding ticket.

This review will go on the Gauged that as a review.
EDIT: This product is a very quality product and I do not mean to say that this is "crap." It should be noted that I was displeased with myself for not catching this before purchasing.

I don't understand your product bashing, just because your car sucks doesn't mean the product is bad. I installed my yesterday and they look great. Product was just as described and easy to install. Took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish. I think putting those rings in took more time than anything but that's a different story.

The analogue clusters kits I support are the full FIS display version only as mentioned on the website.

Audi B5 A4 gauge face kit
A replacement gauge face kit for your B5 A4. With a design inspired from the new 2014 Audi RS models, this kit will surely spruce up your interior.

Gauged Designs has designed for both the analogue and digital clock clusters.

For B5 A4's with:

160MPH/260KPH top speed

Digital FIS (Full LCD)

Analogue (6200RPM redline tachometer) or digital (6400RPM redline tachometer) clocks

I would not recommend you use the kit because the speedometer was not designed for that model cluster and as you have shown, the increments are quite off.

If there is more demand for the other models, I can gladly design a kit specifically for those.

Over looked it. I was mainly looking at the mention of clocks. I switched back to stock.

Maybe I'll sell it to someone with a 97-99.5 that has the lcd screen.

If enough people figure out they can't use it, can we get a partial refund?

Anyone receive their needle removal tools yet? Or should I just use spoons or something?

Ill give this a try, then try a fork I guess. I've also been browsing ebay Germany for a set of prefacelift needles

Not too impressed...my 97 speedo doesn't line up either. I overlooked the fact that the analog clock was not stamped properly (hole for needles is off centre) but the speedo is off until about 180km/hour. Which is obviously an issue.

Full lcd...no dice though.

So it appears that the kit only works for '98 and above? That sucks you you guys had to find out after you bought it.

It's supposed to work with mine...I would assume 98 and above otherwise it's 99.5 and above.

Interesting. There are so many variations of the B5/C5 cluster. Yours appears to have an equal increment cluster which I wasn't aware of and the shape of your gauges are different. PM to discuss your situation.

Not a thing. Last I heard from him was when i contacted him about the faces issue he asked us to email him about

Everything graciously mispelled by Android

He is making sets for the early cars, not sure when they will be done.

He has not replied to me either...and he has a spare cluster of mine. Really shitty tbh.

Worst of all...the faces I bought are useless for my car...so if someone wants a new set for their 99.5+ car in km/h I have one available.

I don't understand your product bashing, just because your car sucks doesn't mean the product is bad. I installed my yesterday and they look great. Product was just as described and easy to install. Took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish. I think putting those rings in took more time than anything but that's a different story.

Dude, chill out, wind your neck in. No one's car sucks, or they all do - we all run B5's.

It's good to hear both positives and negatives of any product. If it worked for you, that's awesome. If you had issues, you mention them too. That is how products improve.

Besides, Bordom made it super clear this is NOT product bashing, even hinting most of the issues he had were his fault. I'm sure Ed and his team will improve things based upon feedback here.

Read properly, and don't be too quick to attack another poster, especially since the comment was directed at the product, and not you.

I was looking to get a set for my C5 RS6 cluster. But the lack of communication between buyers and vendor puts me off. There needs to be more aftersales care, otherwise this is a no-no for me.

In ..... from Australia. When is this ready to be ship?

In if km/h option only available.
1st pic shows mph and km/h (red)
Second pic shows mph only (would be illegal here, you'd fail rwc/pinks)
