What's up folks,
I'm soon to relocate to Houston, TX from San Diego, CA. I know it sounds crazy but it's a for the best. Anyways, I was wondering if there were any active members in the Houston area seeing that there's not a lot of threads being posted lol.

Plenty of action in Houston and throughout Texas. Check out the Audi Club Lone Star site/forums/FB page (http://www.audiclublonestar.org) and the Texas Audi Group forums/FB page (http://texasaudigroup.com) Let me know if you need any help with locating events in the Houston area.

I just relocated from Northeast Arkansas to Houston, TX and am super glad to have done so. Does anyone have a dealer/Service Rep that they would recommend? I am in the Heights area and was looking at Central Houston Audi. Thanks in advance.
I am looking into upgrading to a S5 in the next year and would like to have a dealer I can trust.

Hey LiLS - I recently got a Ross-Tech cable/updated software and have been doing mods to my 2015 RS5. I am south in the Clear Lake area and will let you use mine free, at your own risk of course!

Pretty frickin' easy - if I can do it....
I have the notes/settings I used on my 2015 RS5 (B8.5). I am pretty sure yours is a B8.5 too (facelift started in 2012 I think) so you can use what I have there too but you need to do the research as well.
PM me.

Posted this as a reply in one of my other threads for a guy looking for quality Audi work:
Review, visit, make your own judgments as needed ; )
I like these guys for my general work, The technician did my timing chain repairs and piggie pipes install for my S4. He can be a doomsday paranoid technician lol but he does solid work and the owner Jim Hughes is real easy & highly professional to talk to. Really clean nice place too. But it all depends on how crazy some of your work/mods may be. This place works on just about anything retro, classic muscle to Ferrari etc. Located off Spring Cypress a little north of Highway 249.

YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aixTU4YLp8
I'd recommend paying them a visit and tell Jim I referred you if you go, I'm Carlos. Just tell him the Yellow S4 guy, he'll know lol.

I've been here since 1993. What are your concerns? Houston has become pretty crowded as well these days. Nice areas....Cypress, The Woodlands, Katy, West/Northwest Houston. Sugarland, Richmond Southwest Houston all nice better areas over all from my experience since I live West side. South Houston...maybe Pearland. But if your pockets are very deep....plenty of up & coming lofts, high rises in River Oaks area.

No major concerns. Looking for good neighborhoods with good schools. We plan to move to the suburbs around the city and stay there for good. We were looking at sugar land

Katy has really good schools. Look at cinco ranch area.
I decided to do Katy (cinco ranch area) over sugar land.
Few house builders to stay away from:
KB
Beezer
Builders to consider depending on size and price
Perry
Taylor Morrison
Trendmaker
Hope that helps.

Katy, Cinco Ranch area, most of west h-town have good neighborhoods with pretty good schools. Memorial/Bunker Hill area is very nice with great schools if your pockets are deep enough. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips.
Looks like a good amount of activity here...greater Houston area. Problem seems to be a scattered and voluminous number of websites for us, and so I would suggest y'all stop by and join Audi Club Lone Star group - the Texas chapter of Audi Club of North America. And also do so on FB.

Sorry to be very late to this, but I actually just got my car back a few days ago after getting the Modesta BC-05 coating done to it. I am scheduled to get a car wash and once over with the shop here in about 2 weeks. Once I do, i'll be posting pictures. It gets better and better every day as it cures.
Anyone have a place they like for getting tints done?

Question for everyone in Houston. Has anyone been driving around w/out the front license plate? I was thinking of replacing my grill and not having it on. Just curious if anyone has been pulled over / hassled by not having it on. Thanks for the input!

Awesome, thank you for that. I feel more confident doing that now. Do you by any chance keep it up on the dash like I see some people? Or do you not bother?
What brand did you go w/? any pics of it on your ride?

None of my cars have a front plate, nor the registration sticker in the window. Never had an issue. Im sure if i got pulled over for another violation they would inquire though
I would not put the front plate on your dash... if you get into a wreck that plate will become a sharp object flying around very fast

Big, thank you for your input. I think once I get the rs4 grille that I will be sure to not put the plate up. Maybe I can just keep it in the trunk if they need to see it for whatever reason and some zip ties to put it up.
Anyone aware of any Audi/general car meets coming up? I've been to Cars and Coffee in the Woodlands before. That was a lot of fun.

no problem. There are so many other cars / traffic around, cops dont really notice me :)
As far as car meetups go... coffee and cars in vintage park is every couple months.. but that is HUGE and is more of a shit show then anything else. If you arent there 30 mins early, there are no places to park. TONS of awesome cars to look at though.
Supercar saturdays downtown is once a month, and usually has a nice selection of cars. However, the organizers are a little "snooty" and only let in high end cars. Everyone else has to park down the street and walk in. Kinda crummy IMO.
There is also ride and shine out in Cinco Ranch... put on the the GTR owners club... good group and nice cars, but it is a long drive for me up in Spring.
If anybody wanted to do a smaller Audi meetup, perhaps do a lunch or dinner combo, I would be game

Oh nice! I didn't know of so many car meet us. I have been out of the scene for a long time. I am out in the Galleria area and am happy to drive wherever. If there are wings involved, I'm 100% sure my wife will be there. If it is just about cars, probably not. haha.
If anyone goes to the shows, yall should post it up here in the regional.

Any clearbra personal recommendations in Houston? Need to be at the MD Anderson Tuesday and Wednesday. Wanted to get my S6 done, but want a recommendation. Called the X-Pel exclusive shop, and they want 2 grand just for the full front. Seems way too high, especially blindly. The last 2 jobs I did were awful, and supposedly from top shops, so don't want to do it blindly again, especially for that much. Paid $1,400 in Austin for the Porsche for a lot more than that. I can understand some inflation, but that's a lot.
