Ive been searching the forums all day just to read up on what everything has to say about different pads n rotors and basically narrowed down my choices
im interested in purchasing set of ECS rotors for all 4 wheels. i decided to go with akebono ceramic pads since I'm looking for low dust, regular daily driving, (no track),
but I'm thinking of going with ECS slotted only rotors, people are saying they vibrate or make noise? is this true?
others are also saying the slotted+drilled once can crack? which is why I'm leaning towards slotted only
as for the ceramic akebono pads, or any pads in general, i understand from research on the forums that you do lose some braking power, which I'm ok with but are they even softer in rain as well?
can someone give me a little feedback ? looking to order in the next month or so,

Heard the posi-quiets are the same as the akebonos pads at half the price. Allegedly made by the same company also. Fwiw

No issues with my ECS slotted rotors and Textar pads. Had some pad squeal in the beginning, but it went away with a few miles of driving. Drilled rotors can crack around the holes, but that usually happens to cars that are tracked, not street driven only cars.

I am running the Akebono pads all round with the ECS Slotted & drilled rotors.
No noise at all...
Akebono pads do not have as much initial bite as the OEM pads... you get used to it pretty quick though... just not as response in the pedal feel... but they have virtually no dust and to me that was more important. With the OEM pads I'd wash my car and virtually 2 miles down the road I've have brake dust particles on the rear bumper (my car is white) and obviously the wheels as well... Stopping power is about the same as OEM.... but again, you will notice reduced initial bite which is a compromise.
I've only been running the ECS rotors since Sept - no cracking or issues...

I've hated slotted rotors on everything I've ever put them on. The shudder like crazy during really heavy breaking and it is even worse down hill. I've tried two different brands on two different cars. ... fool me twice, my fault.

Cracking comes from a poorly made product. There is a lot of information all over the web about the performance pro's and cons of drilled rotors, and that's a choice you just have to make and research. Early drilled rotors cracked because, literally, people took a drill press and DRILLED the rotors.
Check out Adam's Rotors too BTW, got a set of his double slotted on my GTI. Amazingly customize-able rotor choices.

I have had slotted rotors for over 3000 miles, tracked them once so far, have ZERO shuddering or shaking under braking, heavy or otherwise.

My 2 piece ecstuning rotors have performed flawlessly on the street and track. They are drilled and slotted.

I've cracked factory Porsche drilled rotors. It's not how they're made, it's how they're used. Repeated heat cycles will eventually crack them.

Yep, was going to say the same thing. My BMW C-mod (now sold) race car ran Brembo BBK with floating cross drilled rotors. Spider cracks are absolutely normal with repeated heat cycles. They have a finite life. When the cracks begin joining each other...time to replace or you could be dealing with an exploding rotor. Never ran slotted, so can't comment...but, loved my cross drilled floating rotors.

looking like I'm gonna try out slotted to play it safe.. starting to even consider just sticking to OEM rotors

If you don't plan to track it, why are you even considering slotted? The reason for slotted is to allow the gas to escape, but you won't have any in regular street use.

yea starting to realize that, but i think the ecs slotted rotors are cheaper than OEM, if thats the case ill go slotted to save $
they also look cooler lol

That's false. Modern pads don't release gases like they did back in earlier times. The slots are meant to keep the pad face cleaner and wick away water during wet conditions. Much like the tread on your tires. The slots also increase friction which will improve initial bit when you first apply the brakes.
Even during daily driving you can benefit from slotted rotors.
