View Full Version : C7 Wheel Tire Suspension Setup and Picture Thread

Audijess1972
12-31-2014, 11:28 AM
I noticed that many of the other Audi model lines have a wheel/tire thread somewhere, but didn't see one for the C7 platform. I had a pretty tough time finding some inspiration for my C7 A6 Quattro, so I thought I would start up the C7 thread for us!

I realize there will probably be way more S6 and A/S/RS7s in mix than A6s, but all are welcome. We are all C7 Brethren.

Even if you ONLY have modified/lowered suspension, feel free to post, as many opt to stick with their OEM wheels or great looking Replicas.

Please list your setups in the following format:

Wheel Brand and Model
Wheel Sizes and Offset if available
Tire Brand and Size
Suspension Setup (coilovers, springs, air)
And Pics Of Course!

Try to show different angles if possible, so others can see how flush they are if they were to go with the same specs.

I will start it off. I only have wheels for now, but my H&R Coilovers are on the way and should be on by this time next week.

Wheels - Vossen VFS1 Silver Brushed
Sizes - 20x9 et32 Front/20x10.5 et45 Rear
Tires - Hankook Ventus K120 245/35-20 front/285/30-20 rear
Suspension - H&R Street Performance Coilovers (updated pics in Post #18)

I'm hoping you like those coilovers I want to lower but don't want a racecar feel.

I'm hoping you like those coilovers I want to lower but don't want a racecar feel.

I will report on my experience once they're on. I want a sporty, taut handling feel, but nothing bouncy or jarring. Fingers crossed.

If you're referring to the factory sport suspension...Yes.

I have seen way too many nice C7s in here in random sections of AZ. Let's get them all in one place.

Come on in...don't be shy.

Thanks! Nope, just factory sport springs. The offset and tires definitely filled the wheel gap more than the factory setup.

Had the H&Rs installed today. Waiting for things to settle a bit, but will lower the front a bit more. The H&Rs on the highest setting is very low in rear. Will lower front to match within a week or so.

iPhone pics are crap...especially at night, but here are a few.

EDIT: Took some better daytime pics this morning on the way into work. Again, the front will have to come down to match the rear.

Thanks. I'm an orthopedic surgeon. Only problem with the house is it's in freezing cold WI. Lots of mods on the house but not really the forum for it. Needs an R8 parked in front, but that may have to wait a little while.

Looks like the 2nd one is a Ferrari spec tire. May have slightly different tread pattern or some other aspect. Call Tire Rack, they should be able to tell you.

Hey bro, curious if you've had any rubbing in Dynamic mode with those specs. I just ordered the same spec wheel in the M580 with the same size tires (275/35/20) and was told it might rub on a hard bump on the highway or something. Any experience you can share? That looks sweet and the fitment is what Im looking for. I did go with the off black,- black graphite. I've only seen the promo pics and havent seen anyone with one with that finish on here or in person yet, so I hope the gamble pays off and I don't rub lol. Nice ride.

Hey Mel, no rubbing. Also the A7 does not have air suspension so the height doesn't change in dynamic sadly. That is its static height with the sport suspension. The only time I rubbed was making a left through an intersection with a dip in it and the car had 3 good size passengers. Found out it was just the tire rubbing the inner fender hardware. Nothing to worry about! No issues with big dips on the freeway either.

Hey Cooncified... You got any angle pics or from the back??? I was seriously going for 20x10 with 275/35r20, but thought they'd look stretched.

Judging from your car, theyre perfect!!!!! Any more pics?

Hey Cooncified... You got any angle pics or from the back??? I was seriously going for 20x10 with 275/35r20, but thought they'd look stretched.

Judging from your car, theyre perfect!!!!! Any more pics?

Hope this helps! I hear Falkens run a little wide, but the Nitto 265's I replaced were a bit stretched so I went 275 with these Falkens and wont go back.

One of our infamous RS7's was in house once again for some updates. This round we swapped the current wheel set out for something a little more...well....flashy. We ran a brand new set of 21" Morr VS11's wrapped in Pirelli PZero Nero tires. The results are incredible, and it adds just enough flash to this absolute monster of a car. Complimented with the H&R Lowering Module, it sat just perfect.

Here is the complete list of mods:
21x10.5 ET30 MORR VS11's in Burnt copper
295/25/21 Pirelli PZero Nero Tires
H&R Lowering Module (http://www.tagmotorsports.com/h-r-lowering-module)
Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust System (http://www.tagmotorsports.com/akrapovic-audi-rs-7-sportback-c7-2014-evolution-line-titanium-exhaust-system)
TAG Motorsports Catless Downpipes (more on that VERY Soon!)
GIAC Software Upgrade
TAG Painted Calipers in Suzuka Grey
TAG Motorsports Carbon Rear Spoiler (http://www.tagmotorsports.com/a7-s7-rs7-carbon-spoiler)
K&N Air Filter

What do you guys think? If you have any questions at all regarding any of the parts you see, please feel free to contact us by clicking HERE ([email protected]) or PM for more details.

I would just like to thank every poster here for validating my previous thoughts. I got in an argument on this forum about tire sizing and based on these pics I couldn't be more correct. People were trying to convince me that a 9.5 width rim wouldn't look meaty with a 275 tire. Well its very clear the 265 on a 9.5 width is the way to go. You need to be at a 10 inch width or a 275 is just going to look wayyy to big. Ok rant over please continue with the beautiful pics!!!!

265 is stock on the OEM 20x9's. 275 on a 9.5 would look just like OEM wheels/tires.

These are oem 20x9 with 275 35 conti dws (soon to become my dedicated winter setup)

lol huh? mistaken identity? i don't know what other thread you're referring to, i'm just saying my current setup is 275 35 on OEM 20x9 (see picture above).

Call the dealer and ask them what is the OEM tire size on an S7 20x9 wheel. I went with a bigger tire (275) because they're winter tires and it saved me about $120 per tire to get 275's.

This is 20x9.5 et29.
If you plan to lower the car to similar height, it will rub, but if stock height you are perfectly fine.

It is a bit aggressive, and could possibly contact the caliper (I have not tested this exact wheel.) It will poke a hair and will require a 255 to clear though.

The front wheels do not rub against the calipers (with or without spacers) and it sits flush on the front and rear. Note with spacers, a 35mm pitch thread will be needed otherwise.

You should get away okay with +35mm on the x9 width and 30mm with the x9.5

But every wheel manufacturer is different and caliper clearance might vary. You might run into adding a spacer on any of these offsets.

Question - looking at a set of BBS CI-Rs for a S6 C7. Looks like the recommended setup is 20x8.5 with 255/35/20 tires, but TireRack also offers the option on the rears to go 20x10 with 265/35/20 tires. Anyone running a similar setup to this? would love to see the comparison versus just running the 20x8.5 all around.

planning on doing the vagcom drop - nothing more than that.

You will need to trim the rear felt liner a bit, remove the front bolt in the front fender lip, and add a hair of negative camber. For a more "hassle free" setup a 20x9 or 9.5 is best.

I always liked the AG M590 setup. The one thing to watch for on the S6s though is that our brakes are a lot bigger than the A6 so you have to watch clearances. That said 20x10 is a great setup, just make sure you also get the right tire size so they aren't too stretched.

The front wheels do not rub against the calipers (with or without spacers) and it sits flush on the front and rear. Note with spacers, a 35mm pitch thread will be needed otherwise.

Do you know if these would fit an S6?

I’ve been searching for a while for this! Glad I stumbled on it. It appears that the A7 has a bit more clearance than the A6, am I correct? My initial research showed my car (14 A7 TDI) should have 19x8.5. I had a set of Audi dealer accessory wheels on a passat (19x8.5 ET48) and thought they’d fit. Turns out I have 19x9 ET 32 with the larger center bore. At least 1” clearance to be flush.

Looks like a 20x10 with around an offset of 25-30 would be ideal. Now to find something decent!

The sportback body allows for quite a bit more aggressive offset as well as larger diameter wheels. IMO 20s look great on both the sedan and sportback, but 21s look at home on the sportback only.

Gotcha - I haven’t had the two side by side to compare. I don’t think I can swing 21s around here. Roads stuck and this is my daily commuter. Wiped an AMG 18” wheel on my SLK a couple years ago. I’ll compare prices though. The 19s I have on these wheels were stupid expensive because of the odd size.

The drop is about and inch more compared to S-Line springs, my car came with S-Line springs from factory lol. The car definitely rides better with the Eibachs in my opinion

Wheel spacers should always be installed with the appropriate length wheel bolts. This is to accommodate the spacer addition in order to retain thread length.

No, I've to the right length lugs but that's all I've ever used to secure the wheel and spacers on to the hub. Was referring to one of the above pics of someone bolting in their spacers using different bolts.

Im pretty happy with it currently, but im torn between leaving it as is or bumping it out just a bit further to 15mm spacers and upsizing to a 265 to fill out the wheel well a little bit more to give the preception its lower than it is.

Also in the market for some 20 x 9 x ET35 or 20 x 9.5 x et 35, just not sure yet which will work best here. Leaning towards 20x9.5xET35 w/265's but also like the weight savings of staying 20x8.5 w/255, especially on a 21-22 lb aftermarket wheel vs the stock 28.6 lb. Still saving weight either way over stock.

Thanks! I’m about 150 miles in and the ride quality is great. Smooth over bumps and noticeably sharper in the turns compared to the non-sport suspension. The new control arms likely helped too.

Are you guys getting Eibach Pro Kit springs?
How much should an Indy charge for this? Prices are all over the map for me, from $800-1200 just to do springs. It's nuts.
How do you feel about Bilstein B4s as a replacement for stock sport suspension shocks?

I'm coming from a list of BMWs and used Bilstein B6s which were GREAT at high speed, but rough around town on the e38 and e90.
Audi is smooooth, but getting noisy and tired and may need some replacement parts soon (shock mounts and everything else that goes with it!)

Stock car, now with meatier stock sized Michelin AS4s. GREAT tires.

Currently running 17.5mm spacers on the front since I had already removed the tires from my old wheels and moved them to the S5 wheels before checking clearance [>_>]; it's all I had. Pokes out too far. Buddy at work has 10mm and 12.5mm spacers so I'll update once I get them installed.

Also one wheel is bent and called for 170+ grams (6oz) when I tried balancing. RoadForce balancing said it exceeded limits to RoadForce so I'll need to get them repaired. Vibrates like hell.

I must have read every thread on audizine looking for this validation, thank you! I was a little worried about the 275s but also didn't want to go down in weight rating on a 255 or 265. Just ordered tires [cool]

Who else is running a 21x10.5 with an ET30 Offset wrapped in a 275/30/21? Lowered suspension?
