So am I an idiot with my searches on the forums?

Found a ton on google that linked to here but when I search on these pages nothing comes up.

Secondary Air Pump Bypass is what I am looking for.

My 99 A4 pump I making the death screech and throwing a CEL finally. Saw pumps for $150 all the way up to $500

But then I found this! http://store.034motorsport.com/sai-blockoff-plate-kit-secondary-air-injection-for-2-8-2-7t-v6-belt-drive-40v-v8.html

But it doesn't appear to include a resistor or anything to prevent CELs. From what I read I would have to get a custom tune done on the car for $400-$750 when its my daily and I really am not trying to blow that type of money. Hell, for that much should just replace the pump.

I have a scanner and can pull exact code for everyone if that can shed light on if it could be the valves controlling the pump.

Anyone else figure out a resistor method or different way to bypass and keep cel off?

1/2 watt 330ohm resistor soldered in(5 pack for $1.49 at radioshack in the mall right there), or you can buy the plug type that IE, USRT, urotuning etc etc sells for like $15 each. pick your poison

Sweet! Thank you sir, going to order the harness to bypass it... Would rather do it right. Never knew about those sites so that greatly helps me out with the maintenance on this car as well.

Really appreciate it GrapeBandit!

Seems like it may not solve all the cel troubles... Bla guess I am just going with the stupid SAI http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/27/f3fe3b6baff170ae7d2232acc3db9e25.jpg

Resistors are completely useless for SAI. The actual pump circuit isn't monitored, only the solenoid and relay. Even if you resistor out the solenoid you'd still get a insufficient flow code, no way to get around that apart from a tune. If you have the means to code out SAI you'll be able to disable circuit diagnosis too, so in this case resistors are useless again.

dbc code outs do not equal dbw code outs.
much different.

Is it still possible though? I'm just curious, I know basically nothing about dbc ECUs and assumed the basic emissions functions and stuff like that would be similar.

its possible.
i know of 2 people that know the proper way, (myself included), and the other still usually asks me to do it.
