I have a stage 1 apr ecu from a 2000 1.8t fwd ATW 5 speed passat. Will this work on an ATW a4 1.8t quattro 5 speed?

I don't think it would work i had someone try something like that on his s4 (it was a ecu out of an allroad) and the ecu popped so i say no lol, but apr does have that winter sale going on until the 11th of next month

Hmm, allroad to s4 sounds sketchy. Passat to a4 seems more believable. I have a strange feeling it might work, but I don't want anything "pop" like you said haha.

Yes, it should work, Passat and A4s use the same ECUs. It would be best if you try to recode the ECU to Quattro though, but it's not necessary. I ran a FWD ECU in my Quattro car for awhile and saw no difference, Quattro is purely mechanical so it shouldn't be able to affect anything.

So long as the ECUs have the same part number (are for ATWs) then you should be fine.

Person just sent me a PM inquiring about this, and he posted two different ATW ECU numbers for the Passat and A4. I told him I don't think it would work, but to get a second opinion. Here are the numbers he gave me.

4b0906018p (I assume A4)
4b0906018bg (I assume Passat)

I was also under the impression the P box is for the AEB?

Does the '00 Passat have immo? That would be the only thing keeping it from being cross-compatible, but it can be defeated pretty easily.

I'm reluctant to post this but... I don't know what immo is. Don't give me too much flak haha

How would I check to see if it had it?

Pretty sure the AEB has an 8d0 prefix, not 100% sure on that but I know it ends in 557P

8D0 is the prefix for DBC cars, 4B0 for DBW on ATW/AWM cars. AEB ECUs came with a variety of suffixes. 557N for the early AEB, 557P for 98-99.5, and even 558M (might have only come on Passats.) I've run all three of those ECUs in my car and saw no difference.

I don't know about the passat but allroads can use S4 tunes. Just have to break a little plastic guide tab, because they are different shapes.

Has anyone consulted APR about this?
