Hi,

So I bought a used 2012 Audi A6 Prestige few months ago. Now the original going to expire within 800 miles. So my question is should I purchase an extended warranty and which company should I go to. I've been checking prices around from SoCal area and they all quote me crazy price. I'm moving from a BMW to Audi. However, the price they quote me e.g $5,500 with $100 deductible for 4 years and 48k miles, my 650i only cost me $3.4k with $50 deductible for 4 years and 50k miles though. I need help since this is my first time owning an Audi. I love the car. It comes with all the possible options except B&O. Should I be worry or it's a very reliable car?

I really appreciate for any help and advise.

I bought an extended GMAC (Vehicle One) warranty to 100K miles for my A7 at the time of purchase... It was $4995 and that was COST. The Audi one was $6400 COST, and they would have to mark it up 10%.

They aren't cheap, but I am very glad I bought it.

If they are worth it or not is personal. It's a matter of piece of mind. If you have $10K to throw at a major repair, then negate the extended warranty. For me, with an Audi, it was a no brainer. That being said, everyone is different.

This is the sole reason I bought my S7 from Carmax... plus it was exactly what I wanted which was bizzare that Carmax had one. I don't think Carmax sells a lot of $80k cars so it must have sat for a while. Extended warranty to 100k was around $4000 I believe. I opted for the $100 deductible so I can have it serviced at the Audi dealership for $100... or Carmax for $50
The sales experience left much to be desired - since I had to hound them for status updates since they transferred the car from Atlanta. But the prices and extended warranty was better then anywhere else I could find, especially with the options set on the car. I plan to look hard at them again in a year when my wifes lease is up.

I get a quote from a company called SafeGuard. Has anyone tried them before? I got a great deal on another 48k miles and 4 years for $3.7k.

Which engine do you have? While I can't speak for the TDI, the 3.0T is essentially bulletproof and the 2.0 is solid as well. Even aside from the engine, the C7 as a whole seems to be relatively problem free, and $5,500 (or even 3.7k) can cover a lot of repairs.

I'd skip the warranty.

It's 3.0TFSI. Gasoline. According to my BMW extended warranty, the issue I had the most was leaking but nothing else. So I'm still deciding between going with extended warranty or not.

Thanks for all the helps.

Merry Christmas All!!!

My research when I looked into this mirrored the high prices you're being quoted. It made me abandon the non-CPO S6 I was looking at for a CPO A6. I'm back in the market for the S6 and CPO seems to be the best option if you want an extended warranty of some sort. Doesn't help your situation now, unfortunately, but after 10+ years of owning Audis, I would not purchase one that I planned on keeping longer than the standard 4/50 warranty without some sort of aftermarket coverage. In my experiences, all the major problems started showing up at around 52k.
