I have been tuning Audis for last 15 years. Both me and my wife have been driving Audis, primarily, for last 20 years. Recently we decided that we no longer will wait for a new Q7 to come out as the current design is 8 years old so we bought 2015 X5 50i for her. We just could not wait another year for 2016s. What can I say, the X5 is phenomenal, all around. Tranny is night and day compared to DSG on the S6. Power delivery is as smooth as you can possibly wish. After figuring out all the coding, similar to what we do with vagcom, but more complicated and with a lot more options, I am back to tuning. Of course the warranty issue came up and Dinan product is there to "help." However, these are so overpriced as tune is $2500. There are also other tunes including one from BMS that gives similar numbers for a fraction of a cost, about $600. Both Dinan and BMS are piggyback tunes. BMS tune takes 2 min to install, it is well regarded but, unlike Dinan, will void the warranty. However, BMS install is simple: unplug the MAF plug, plug the Stage1 tuner in to the MAF, plug the OEM plug in to the Stage1 tuner, all done. Ever need to take it to the stealeship, 2 min later u are ready to go.
I know many people say that if you want to play you have to pay in case if things go bad after tuning. But I would never buy a car that has little potential for tuning. If I do not keep things rolling as far as upgrades, I loose interest in a car. I am getting to this point with my S6. Out cars have so much potential, that it is a shame not to tune it, but if u do, AOA is waiting to flag you...
Now to my point. We all worry about the TD1, I was already TD1 flagged on my S6. Why wouldn't a tuner come out with a piggyback tuning package for Audis?
My apologies for a long story and a simple question.

Paragraphs please.
I'm confused. Did you already tune your S6?
Piggybacks are less effective and safe than an actual ECU re-map/flash. The S6 is bulletproof so I wouldn't be concerned with being flagged TD1. And most of us just flash back to stock before dealer visits to avoid TD1 in the first place.
Don't buy into the hype that Dinan is any better than other tuners. The BMW dealers will void your OEM warranty with a Dinan tune just as fast as they will with another tuner. Dinan says they will cover repair under their own warranty which is almost as hard if not harder to get them to cover things than at the dealer. Then you're left arguing with both BMW and Dinan to get your car repaired instead of just one party. Its a headache that's not worth the premium they charge.

To your question, the answer is many less well known to unknown tuners tried and it has all been proven to not working or even a sham so that's why.
Some options in Germany, example:

I believe MTM has piggyback tuning. Also a reputable tuner.

When I posted about racechip a few months back, people did not take it seriously.

I believe BMW uses the same ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic as Audi does on a lot of their cars (ie: A6/A7). It's smoother than a dual clutch, but not as "connected" to the car. I'd take the dual clutch over the 8-speed. Although the ZF 8-speed automatic is probably one of the best automatics ever made.
Also, I think the S6 has tons of piggy back tuning solutions out there. Still some TD1 risk I think.

Ironically, racechip is more popular for BMW's than Audi's. Overall, piggy back tuning is very popular in Europe - tons of people use the tunes without any issues.

I have no experience with these tunes, but If you're in the U.S., their email is

Specifically states on their web page it voids warantee and as an add on, may not be legal in all states. I don't belive tuning is illegal in any state, even CA. Plus, a piggy back adds the possibility of failure and blowing your computer. Which is now no longer under warantee.
As for not waiting, ashame, they just did a test of next years Q7 (Car and Driver?) and did some MAJOR changes!! 700 pounds lighter, better milage, new engines including a hybrid that does 0-60 in 6.0 seconds.

Yeah, I saw that but I do not believe in buying a completely redesigned car the first year it comes out. I did it too many time before and always regretted it as I want them to figure out all issues first.
At the same time, they still list wimpy 3.0T with a possibility of SQ7 using the same engine as in S6.

Looks identical to the box sold by RaceChip (here (https://www.racechip-usa.com/chiptuning/Audi/S6/S6-(C7)/4-0-TFSI-309kw/)) but at a much higher price. I wonder who the OEM is on these...
