I had the opportunity to install a RS6 air box to my S6. I thought maybe it might give a little more engine note while under warranty and to my surprise it did increase both engine and exhaust note. Before some get too excited it is nothing like changing the exhaust but that is not what I am after from a car I bought to be a classy sleeper. One day I may remove the centre muffler to get the note exactly where I personally would like it but ideally would like to hear someone who has done it already.

Love mine, I think it is the best mod and very affordable.

Where did you guys purchase it? How much was it? I was thinking of getting a K&N or AWE Tuning filter for slightly more sound - but if this does the tricky, it might be a good option too. Or maybe even combining both?

Is it safe to assume the RS7 box is identical?

Me thinks a patient dremel and a black screen on the OEM airbox might work well. Do the rearward vents take in engine bay hot air? Perhaps the filter is enough of a breathe strip.

Either that or drop a cool $1K on the CF jewelry.

Hi Guys,

Apart from the square holes on the top are there any other differences?

Size?
Internals?

Thanks

The internals are identical. It's really just the square holes.

When I bought the box it came with a rs6 filter and the plastic inlet pipes towards the turbo. The filter is a larger diameter and the two pipes are a larger diameter so they don't fit on the metal pipes just before the turbo without some mods. The rs6 metal pipes cost 1100aus which is ridiculous so I kept the s6 pipes and filter (if someone can get me them for less to Australia let me know) . There is a good chance that even though the turbos are bigger on the rs6 I am told the gaskets are the same part number so the rs6 pipes might fit. I wanted mine to look original Audi and maintain warranty so other options were out.

silicone hose will do the trick.

Hey Sci, did you just cut short pieces of silicone hose to increase the diameter of the metal turbo inlet pipe where the stock accordion hoses clamp down? Your install looks clean (can't see any silicone hose at all) and if that was the case, I was wondering if you knew the diameter of the hose that you used on the inlet pipe?

Sciblades, have you done this with yours in the photo? your photo looks very clean/original. I was told that the diameter of the plastic pipes is different to the diameter of the metal pipes (that is if you have stock S6 metal pipes and stock plastic pipes the two diameters are not the same. the difference will be more if I use the RS6 plastic pipes and keep the S6 metal pipes. I assume the difference is minor and a silicon hose will handle it? Do you know what diameter?

Pulled the trigger and ordered this. Is it confirmed that it won't affect the warranty? Or should I take it back to stock before my next visit? It is OEM ...

Audilan. I had mine upgraded by the dealer while under warranty and they confirmed as it's original gear it will not affect the warranty. You can ask you local dealer to see if they provide the same answer.
