Hey guys,

I got a '14 S4 and I am having brake squeal issues. It is driving me up the walls.
Not only is it embarrassing, but its also annoying as f*ck. It is a $60K car and i do not believe that it is supposed to squeal.

I had the car serviced and mentioned this to them and they said that it is normal occurrence for these vehicles. I do not know how this is normal considering this is a luxury car brand.

Please let me know if anyone has a remedy for this or know of any other solution.

I think this is beyond a well known issue straight to a feature of the car. It used to bother me but now I pretend I am in an F1 car that doesn't work properly until it's "race-hot", which is pretty much the case here too.

QK

LOL yeah i pretend not to hear it too, but I know that I hear it lol
I found that there was some sort of fix for the old models but not sure if it applies to the B8.5s

First it is spelled Brake not break and second do a search there is a million threads on this. The bottom line is it is the pads

Probably the most annoying thing about this car is that squeal in cold weather. Its laughable that a near 60K car would squeal and shed so much brake dust on stock pads.

Thanks for the correction but I realized I misspelled it after I posted it but I am at work so didnt get a chance to correct it. I know its the pads, but still ... they should do something about it.

mine (B8) never squealed with OEM pads. and only squeal faintly if you are deliberately trying with HPS 5.0s

you try some bedding protocols?

I got tired of it and just changed the pads. No squealing so far.

The colder it gets the louder the squeal.
Change the pads if it really bothers you that much.

New pads with some Permatex Ceramic Extreme brake lube on the back should fix it. Get ceramic (akebono) pads if you also want to cut down on brake dust, though you will loose some initial "bite".

Mine are super quite, and low dust.
