Is anyone using this rear view mirror mount on a S4 with the base mirror? I would be interested to know which particular mount you used, and how you hooked it up, and if you still had the full use of your mirror.

I ordered the BMX-2025 and it works great. I hardwired the radar detector to the fuse box so there are no wires hanging, which makes it a very clean install. The mirror still has its full range of motion and the auto dimming function works perfectly.

Yes, it was a pretty simple install with the hardest part being hiding the wires.

I don't know if it applies to this, but some states have laws against attaching or hanging objects from your rearview mirror. I doubt any LEO would take notice unless you were already pulled over, but given its purpose I wouldn't count it out. I personally plan to go closer to the headliner when I hardwire mine, I'm just waiting until I make the jump to an S4 so I can go with laser jammers too.

ideally, you want to place the detector as high up as possible. IMO, these mounts put the detector too low and in the way of my vision

Ever since I downloaded Waze, my radar detector has been dark in my glove compartment. Go with a Waze (and maybe a jammer) or go home with a ticket.

I agree with the Waze app being a life saver, but theirs no way I'd put my radar away for it. Waze cant pinpoint a cop who's still moving, only one thats parked in a designated location. Radar detector is great for undivided highways where cops like to clock you while moving in the opposite direction. Laser jammer is great too but theirs a heafty penalty if your ever caught with it.

Just buy a yourself a bone tool and install it to the upper right/left of your rearview mirror it looks cleaner/sleaker/less noticeable and for peformance you want it as high as possible to give you the best angle down the road even as small as it is. Hanging from your mirror is bulky and noticeable leaving room for theft depending where you live

visor is the best spot, with a little block to set the angle of the visor.

Agree on laser blinders. Gonna install them on my next car cuz I got nabbed (not even going faster than traffic) by laser and all my radar did was tell me I got shot.

I have the blendmount for the Escort Max, but I found it difficult to access the mute button on top of the detector as that is up against the bottom of the mirror. I put in some cardboard shims where the mount attaches to the detector to increase the gap from the top of the detector to the bottom of the mirror for slightly easier access to the mute button.

I have the same Blendmount/Escort Max set-up in my 2014 S4. I still want to get the wiring that goes into the mirror. Not sure how it works, but it can't be that hard to do!! Anyone else wire theirs that way?

Does that radar detector also read laser guns?

Yes, but when the detector picks up the laser signal it is too late because the cop already got the speed reading. The only protection from laser is laser jammers.

I did mine this way.... There are a few write Ups around here on how. You wire it to the homelink Controller, not the mirror.

No, you have to drop the part where the sunglass holder is... Single torque screw inside the sunglass holder and the whole assembly should pull down. The home Link Controller is the garage door opener. Don't wire to the mirror.... Get the 24" push on connector wire from the blend mount guys and it's just long enough....[emoji5]

I'm there for ya, brotha. There's a diy in here somewhere on the right connectors in the home Link to use.... The wires aren't color coded, so it's not intuitive.... Be careful and use a ohm meter, if you aren't sure. [emoji5]
