I’ve been in the market for some time for a “Stage 2” tune, upgraded SC pulley and DSG tune for my B8 S4. Last week I decided to drive out to the Revo US HQ in West Virginia to get it done. Jeff and Robin took care of me pretty good during my visit and even did a number of dyno pulls, free of charge, to show my gains. I’d recommend if you’re within driving distance to go to the HQ over a local dealer. I saved a few hundred bucks in labor compared to what I was quoted at a near by.
I ended up getting their Stage 1+ w/ Pulley, DSG Tune and the Serial Port Switcher.

I picked up 60 whp and 32 ft lb over stock. The shifts are pretty smoothe and quick also. I haven’t had too much time to mess with launches due to the crap weather but will be trying it out later this weekend.

Did they have any explanation why you got 60hp and only 32 ft lbs of torque when they claim that Stage 1+ with a pulley is 80-105hp and 80-125 ft lbs of torque, even if there increase claim is crank to crank increase, then maybe that would explain the 60hp at the wheels, but 32 ft lbs is way off what they are claiming - maybe needs time to adapt or something else is going on.
I am looking for a tune, but if I drop 2 grand and get 32 ft lbs of torque and 60 hp, I am going to go get my money back.

nice gains, very similar to what i had with apr stage 2on a mustang

their quote is maximum gains, not peak tq vs peak tq and peak power vs peak power

Also if you go based off of stock whp vs bhp you have 260/333 = .78 which is the ratio of bhp to whp. .78 * 415bhp = 323whp. Which is right around the low end of the range they listed on there site.

Nice, I was kinda worried when I saw the numbers but then remembered making fun of my buddy with a cammed c5 vette that made just over 300 on a mustang dyno lol. Now I know how hard it can break your heart :D

What was the cost of labor at Revo HQ? And what did the local shop quote you? Thanks

It was about a 450 dollar difference for everything. I think the local shop over quoted for the pulley install and they assumed they were going to have to pull the ecu. In all it took about 4 hours with dyno pulls.

That's what I am thinking. When I got my tune I was not too impressed, then after 40-50 miles that changed.

That seem's like quite a heart breaker dyno.
Reminds me of my Tiptronic B5 S4 400whp on a dynojet and racegas... 345whp on a Mustang.
I think they are good results, maybe dyno again later and see if the ECU Adapted and throw in some racegas

Seems low even for a mustang compared to the other results I been seeing. Could be the the tune it self or like others said the ecu needs some time to adapt but i dont think that should be the case.

Also doesn't the 'stock' reading seem low? I thought I remember even stock S4s dynoing close to 300whp on a Mustang (since the factory figure is so underrated). I wonder if something else is going on.

Congrats on the upgrade!
In general, the HP gains look great. However, I was expecting perhaps a bit more of a torque increase (perhaps in the lower end).
The flattening of the torque curve right before cutoff is very interesting - normally I would expect a continued drop-off. Either the car at lower RPM has some room to tune more aggressively, or they installed some VTEC past 6500 RPM.

I think there was another Mustang dyno run done on the same tune a couple of months ago - he got 358 AWHP, 345 AWTQ. Wonder why the difference?

Rumors abound about the "operator adjustability" of inertia (DynoJet) vs eddy-current load dynos (Mustang, DynoDynamics) and the most often quoted "fact" is that the Dynojets are not user adjustable/calibratable vs the Mustang/DD are, so the numbers reported by Mustang tend to vary more than Dynojet. I don't know if this is true, just repeating what I consider rumors.
Some guys that like to crow about HP records stress the record runs should be done on a dynojet to eliminate operator adjustability just to make a high HP #.
I'd guess that most dyno operators testing a difference from basic client install like the OP are probably legit but the dyno may literally be just calibrated lower and more of a heartbreaker like others have said. It's the delta that matters, not the peak.
60WHP doesn't sound that bad if it's all on pump gas but the odd 12-15HP spike from 6350rpm to ~6700rpm is a concern. I'd take it to the track and maybe re-dyno later on if still concerned.

I think the delta is whats important here. Looks to be around the gains Revo posted with their 2014.

I live about 15 minutes from Revo HQ in WV and have been considering using their tune as well. Wondering- what the "seat-of-the-pants" difference feels like?
Thanks

That was my car, which was right in line with a identical GIAC Stage 2 car (though I had a little more torque). I can tell you for sure that it actually took my car a couple days to adapt and then it was a MASSIVE difference. I have had 3 cars with REVO and all took significant time to adapt.
To the OP - I have been running 33% E85 and the "RACE" map for DD with no problems at all. It is a nice little extra boost in the cooler weather. When it starts getting over 80 degrees again I will move it over to the 93 map.

Can you share how much the Stage 1+ and DSG file cost you total? Feel free to PM me. Thanks

It was $150 and $2078.66 out the door compared to $24XX from the local shop.

I also thought it was kind of low but when you look at the delta whp I am happy with the results. I thought it was pretty peppy before but after it really pulls hard. I’m glad I was able to get a before and after dyno.

It pulls real hard. The DSG makes every shift really smoothe. I haven’t really had much of a chance to mess with the launch but at 4k when the tech took me for the test ride it was night and day compared to before. There was about a second delay though but he says that should go away as the dsg readjusts. I’d 100% recommend it. Also try to get a before and after, I’m curious how ours compare. What mods do you have?

How do you mix that? Or do you just dump it in the tank? I got a 5 gallon drum of 100 that I want to take it to a local dyno to test it out but it the weather has been crap and its finals week :(

No mods - just got it mid October and waited to get a few miles on. Got email quote from Jeff today and I'm probably pulling the trigger in the next couple weeks-I'll let you knob how it goes.

I just go to a station that has both and I do E85 first and 93 next to get it to mix well. It works great as long as you don't go over 50%. 33% seems ideal and the power is awesome!!
