We're proud to announce the availability of the Density Line Engine Mounts for the B8 Audi A4/S4, A5/S5, and Q5/SQ5!
034Motorsport's Density Line Mounts are the new standard in comfort and performance. Our mounts are redesigned with performance in mind, and manufactured from high-durometer rubber for increased performance and durability, without sacrificing comfort. Density Line Mounts are void-free and fluid-free, eliminating the slop associated with the factory mounts.
Street Density:
034Motorsport Street Density Engine Mounts are manufactured from 65 durometer rubber, which is a significant upgrade from the 45 durometer rubber used in stock B8 Audi S4 mounts. Since the mounts are also void-free and solid-filled, the resulting mount is substantially stiffer than stock, without introducing any additional noise, vibration, or harshness into the cabin. The mount bodies are made from high quality cast aluminum using OEM production techniques.
The result is greatly reduced drivetrain slop, crisper shifting, and minimal wheel hop, without any noticeable increase in noise, vibration, or harshness (NVH) inside of the cabin. The solid rubber, void-free and fluid-free design eliminates the possibility of leakage and collapse, which is a very common issue with factory mounts. These mounts are a completely re-engineered performance solution, not just inserts for use with the factory mounts. They were tested thoroughly in-house at 034Motorsport, JH Motorsports, and by fellow Audi enthusiasts before release.
Factory Active Mount Emulators:
034Motorsport Street Density Engine Mounts utilize emulators to replicate the electronics of the factory engine mounts for plug-and-play installation. This ensures MIL-free operation for cars equipped with active engine mounts.
Features:
Manufactured from 65 Durometer (Street Density) Rubber with Void-Free Construction
Built-In Emulator with Plug-In Connector for Vehicles Equipped with Factory Active Mounts
Reduced Drivetrain Slop
Decreased Engine Movement Under Load
More Direct Power Transfer
Improved Shifting Feel
Complete Drop-In Replacement of Factory Engine Mounts
Sold Individually (One Vehicle Requires 2 Mounts!)

def interested in these engine mounts. Waiting to see the first person to install these and have a review. Maybe it might be me? Just curious how long of an install it will it take for a good shop/experienced mechanic? Cheers…..

If I were to purchase these mounts do I need to buy new "retaining plates" or can I just use the ones that I assume come with the car?

The book time on the job is ~6 hours, but it can be done faster. [;)]
The factory retaining plates and hardware can be reused without issue. [wrench]

They actually installed this engine mount on my car, having these on for about 1000 miles then back to stock, you can feel a huge difference with the stock engine mount. Less vibration, comfortable, feels a lot stiffer, engine feels great when WOT. I felt a huge difference since I'm on stock mounts again =( -Isaias

I remember seeing posts about factory mount failure... is there a general life expectancy for the factory mounts? If the factory mounts are in good working order, will there still be a noticeable improvement by switching to these mounts? Looks like $1000 for purchase and professional install...

Thanks, 034, for releasing this!
I think there is a thread out there with this information, but can people chime in on how many miles they've had before their mounts failed? Perhaps it will give us owners a better idea of if/when the stock ones fail.

We based the comparison on new B8.5 S4 mounts, which were the latest revision. Even if you have brand new factory mounts, you will notice a big improvement with these. [up]

Wonder if the dealer would be willing to install these parts instead of factory mounts, but still billback as warranty work. Kind of like giving them your own oil for audicare service. Maybe they can void any parts warranty on their work...?

They may be willing to; all they need to get reimbursed from AoA is send back the failed mounts, IIRC. [up]

Glad we could give you guys a great upgrade over stock! We won't be offering Track Density in these mounts, as the Street Density mounts are a substantial upgrade over stock, and what the majority of people will be happiest with. These mounts are the perfect balance of slop reduction with no noticeable increase in noise or vibration.
We will be releasing our Motorsport line of billet mounts for those who don't mind added NVH in cabin. [;)]

Happy Saturday! I've gotten a few PMs abut whether we will have Track Density versions of these mounts available. The answer to that is no.
We highly recommend sticking to our Street Density Mounts for any and all street-driven cars as they are already much stiffer than stock, and ideal for 95% of enthusiasts. [up]
That being said, we will have these Motorsport Mounts out soon for those of you who don't mind added vibration and want a locked-down drivetrain:

Ok so I got these put on my car recently along with the trans mount. 034 says that it will:
Reduced Drivetrain Slop
Decreased Engine Movement Under Load
More Direct Power Transfer
Improved Shifting Feel
To that I would have to agree on ALL points. Both of my mounts were toast at 65k miles. Before the car made a weird hesitation at WOT on the 1-2 shift, almost as if it was slipping the clutch when it shifted into 2nd. Now, at WOT each shift is spot on. The car feels DAMN FAST and the transmission feels sharper (if that makes sense). By sharper I mean there aren't any abrupt or jarring sensations I used to experience prob due to slop in the stock mounts. Power delivery is direct and feels never ending (gotta love the DSG at WOT). I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm not sure if damaged motor mounts contribute to poor performance? But with the new mounts my car feels more solid and outright faster than before. For example I used to get walked by our x5m and recently I was the one doing the walking [:D]. He didn't use LC which might've reduced that gap but even then I was still PULLING on him. Seriously can't wait for spring. It feels like an 11 second car now but I couldn't say that last summer. Only difference is the motor+ trans mount and my AMS boost cooling system. Anyways, great product as usual 034! Keep the good stuff coming for our cars

I wonder if these contribute to less drivetrain power loss due to less movement, etc... could be a wild guess but just a thought.
Glad these work well. I really want to get these installed but doubt any local dealer will but aftermarket parts in even if they are already in to replace parts under warranty. Just the way these useless dealers are around here.

These mounts won't affect drivetrain loss, which is attributed to moving mechanical and driveline parts, bu they certainly will improve the driving experience! [drive]
At least one of our customers was able to have these installed by their dealer in lieu of factory mounts during a warranty repair. Since the dealer is being comped by AoA, all they need to do is return the failed stock mounts to Audi. [wrench]
Give them a call! Even if they won't bill it as warranty work, they'll likely be able to help you out with installation. [cool]

Glad to hear you're enjoying the transmission mount insert! If you add these mounts, you'll see further reduction of drivetrain movement, which is especially noticeable as more direct response to throttle inputs and load changes, and crisper, faster shifts.
These will also easily outlast the factory engine mounts. [up]

Are all bad engine mounts throwing codes?

My 2015 S4 has 3k miles but I have noticed a click/thump once I hit 7 mph.
I took it to the dealer and their diagnostic was that the solenoid that activates the engine mounts was creating this noise and that it was completely normal.
Do you have any experience or information with anything similar to this?
Could my motor mounts be already bad or failed?

See the cable sticking out of the mount? It's supposed to throw a code when the mount tears and oil drains out.

Whether it's supposed to or not, I rode on blown OEM mounts (see here (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/627576-***-Introducing-034Motorsport-Street-Density-Engine-Mounts-for-the-B8-Audi-A4!-***?p=10560910&viewfull=1#post10560910)) for ~5k miles and just recently replaced them w/ 034's. No codes.
Now, the A4 mounts have the same-looking cable as the S4 mounts but that doesn't necessarily mean they are the same. All I'm saying is don't be lulled into a false sense of security by the simple presence of a cable.

I was originally asking people for their experience. You're saying in your case, no.
No false sense of security here, but I also don't want false alarm, if that makes sense.

Pretty sure I've read the tell tale sign of blown mounts (aside from horrible engine NVH I suppose) is signs of oil dripping from the mounts themselves. Pretty sure people were having them replaced with no codes being thrown. There have been some threads in the past about this if you look around. Came up in some "what should I have looked at before my warranty expires" type threads if I remember correct.

The codes are actually thrown when the active mount electronics themselves fail. The mounts can tear and leak fluid without any codes present. [up]

You have to either lower the subframe or raise the engine one side at a time on the 3.0 TFSI models. We haven't found a time-saving way around it yet, and we have some highly skilled technicians. [up]

I think our techs are able to get it done faster by lowering the subframe, but raising the engine one side at a time is a more straightforward approach.

I've had my new 034 mounts for a week and they're great. Both my stock ones were tearing and one of them was leaking. With the new ones I can't notice any annoying vibrations like other people have stated. I do have a slight hesitation at 2800 rpms, but i think that's my tune....? $721 installed fyi

These appear to be a beneficial upgrade for improving driveline precision but since my S4 is more luxe barge than track car adding any NVH would be a major negative.
Can anyone confirm this claim?
…the resulting mount is substantially stiffer than stock, without introducing any additional noise, vibration, or harshness into the cabin. The mount bodies are made from high quality cast aluminum using OEM production techniques.
The result is greatly reduced drivetrain slop, crisper shifting, and minimal wheel hop, without any noticeable increase in noise, vibration, or harshness (NVH) inside of the cabin.

Since most enthusiasts feel the same way about their cars, we designed these mounts to be a reliable performance upgrade for daily-driven S4s, hence the Street Density designation. I've driven them back-to-back in a B8.5 Audi S4 with ~1,200 miles on the factory mounts, and there was no noticeable NVH increase with our upgraded mounts. Shifting and throttle response was drastically improved, though. [up]
We'll have our billet aluminum and high durometer rubber "Motorsport-Spec" mounts available soon for those who are looking for a more firm, track-oriented mount solution.

How do you know if your mounts "fail"?
You usually encounter a fair amount of unwanted engine movement, shifter movement, etc. If the fluid leaks out of the factory mounts, you should be able to see indications of the leak from underneath the car with the belly pan removed. If the factory electronics fail, then there will be a code stored in the ECU.

Thanks for the replies….I was just curious what shop everyone would suggest. I'm a little paranoid about installing these mounts because it seems like a lot of work and just want to have a knowledgeable person/business install these right. I trust NGP the most so I'll be calling them soon for a price quote on the install. Can't wait to get this mod sometime in the near future.

I removed my stock mounts and replaced them with the 034's while I had my engine dropped to fix my broken cats. So far, the car seems to drive pretty similar. I don't have a lot of street miles, but I don't remember the awkward ugly idle while stopped at a stop light. Will report if I notice anything in the upcoming weeks.
My factory mounts were fine after 32k miles and 13 track days.

Well I got my motor mounts installed yesterday. So far it drives awesome, that car feels more planted while driving and shifting. Even the Audi Tech was impressed. Someone mentioned above they have annoying vibration at idol when sitting at a light, I DO NOT notice this at all. I am very impressed with the difference. I know my stock ones had 100k miles on them and that could be why I notice a big difference, but regardless it's a great mod.

Thank you for the review, and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the upgrade. It's a very positive increase in response from the drivetrain and throttle/clutch inputs, even on new cars. One of the members here helped us out early in testing with his B8.5, and the difference was apparent even on a car with ~2,000 miles.
We've had some users with 2.0T Tiptronic cars mention increased NVH transfer, and are making a slightly softer version for the A4/A5 which will be released later this month. [wrench]
Billet Aluminum Motorsport Engine Mounts are coming soon as well! This should be an exciting winter for B8 enthusiasts.
Cheers,
Laszlo

Don't end up like Tim over at QuattroWorld and have your factory mount talking back to you. [:p]

Once the stock mounts rip like this, it's only a matter of time before they break the aluminum casing and make repairs get even more expensive. [wrench]

Looks like I only managed 8k miles out of these mounts... My right mount is throwing a code. Can't see if oil is leaking from the top but I'm pretty sure it's toast.
Is there a more aggressive mount you guys sell? Really surprised that one of these failed already

Sorry to hear you're experiencing a code for the active mounts! Density Line Mounts don't have any fluid filling, and your mount is most likely functioning perfectly. Our mounts have emulators that are there just to mimic the factory electronics needed for the active mounts, but they don't serve any purpose in the function of the mount.
The factory mounts (and ours) will generally throw a code if the electronic portion fails, or if there is a connector/wiring issue. I'd recommend double-checking that the harness is intact and that the connector is properly plugged in.
If there's an issue with the emulator itself, we can send you a plug-in bypass piece to eliminate the code. Hope that helps explain what the code means, and just to reiterate, the Density Lie Mounts feature solid construction and don't collapse or leak like their factory counterparts.

I do apologize for missing your questions.
We recommend the 65 durometer density for the 3.0t since the engine is heavier than the 2.0t. The 3.0t is also a better-balanced engine so you will feel little vibration. The 50 durometer is meant for the 2.0t motors that are lighter and more prone to vibration.

Wouldn't the ''AK'' qualify as a subframe enhancement already ?
I wanted to do these 2 !! How was NVH after the install of both insert ?
and did you got it shipped from canada or from the us ? cheers :)
@034 ; now that we have 2 mount for rear diff, 2 mount for tranny, rear subframe, front.. what other possibility can we have ? any thought about strut bar maybe or they are simply too expensive to manufacture ?

Hello 034,

Hi Krusty,
I'm sorry you're having high amounts of cabin vibration. Please keep in mind that increased noise and vibration transmission into the cabin, especially in vehicles equipped with the Tiptronic transmission is normal for this mount. If you feel what you are experiencing is more than we have expressed, please send an email to
[email protected] and our customer advocate can look at the situation with you and figure out whats going on.
Cheers!

Edit: I forgot to add that they do quiet out after a couple thousand miles of driving.

Dude, thanks for the reply. I actually have a manual not a tiptronic. Do you have any recommendations besides time?

I recommend checking to be sure it was installed correctly and all mounting points were secured and torqued to spec. Manual transmissions will still have added NVH, just not quite as much as in vehicles with tiptronic/dual clutch transmissions. Have you upgraded the rest of your mounts or are they still factory?

Well, I think my car is ready for a set of these mounts.
The factory mounts do not show any signs of leakage, but in the past several years, I have broken two sets of Borla flex pipes, I am on my third repair of a flex pipe on my custom/ Armytrix exhaust and I have broken the welds on both left and right factory cats. Something is moving around!
I had used mechanics wire tied between the engine and frame (with a small kink) to see if there was extra flexing going on, but that has been a while and didn't show any signs of movement. At this point, considering I am APR stage 2+ and the car has 85,000+ miles, I am going to assume the factory mounts are just too soft, whether they have fluid in them or not.
I have the 034 insert on the transmission, but I think I will replace that mount too so I eliminate ANY unnecessary flexing.
Any suggestions/ advice would be helpful.

Hello,
Yes, this will help with any flexing you still have on the car. With the engine moving less then it will prevent stress on the downpipes from moving forward and backward thus helping you with the flex pipe braking.

Press Release
August 30th, 2017
Carrollton, TX
Today, 034Motorsport is fortifying its brand presence in the Central-Southern USA by announcing a regional distributor partnership with BMP Tuning.
This exciting partnership will enable existing dealers to get inventory faster, and allow 034Motorsport to be represented to more new shops in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. BMP Tuning will be the exclusive wholesale distributor in these six states.
“You’ll find few people in this industry as great to deal with as Autrey from BMP Tuning. He brings a fresh passion to the VAG aftermarket that’s exciting to see. This made the decision to partner with BMP Tuning very easy for all of us here at 034Motorsport,” States Troy Sicotte, Global Director of Sales for 034Motorsport. “BMP Tuning has committed to being in stock, and will be instrumental to getting our parts to existing dealers quickly, while expanding the dealer network in states where we have limited penetration.”
“Our goals are to help grow brands by representing them in a positive light. I treat each and every brand BMP Tuning represents as if it was my own company. By doing that on all levels, we are able to represent manufacturers in a way that benefits them more so than just slinging parts. We’re committed to applying this ethos to 034Motorsport in the six states we represent,” states Autrey McVicker, Owner of BMP Tuning. “We feel that the team at 034Motorsport are similar in thinking and aligned with our goals which makes it a great fit. We want to help grow 034Motorsport in our region, contributing to their amazing evolution, and be a major part of the brand’s ongoing wholesale expansion.”
Dealers can set up an account with BMP Tuning by contacting Eddie, their wholesale representative, directly:

034MOTORSPORT ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH DECAR AUTO SPORTIV IN CANADA
https://blog.034motorsport.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/decar-banner-final-1200x800.jpg (https://store.034motorsport.com/blog/034motorsport-official-partnership-decar-auto-sportiv/)
Press Release
August 29, 2017
Oakville, Ontario
034Motorsport’s global expansion continues with a new official partnership announced today with DeCar Auto Sportiv, based in Oakville, Ontario. They are now the official importer and distributor for 034Motorsport go-fast-parts in Canada, and will give unprecedented access of 034Motorsport product to existing dealers, new dealers and consumers in Canada.
“Canada is one of our biggest international markets for us, being so close to the USA. That said, its close proximity doesn't mean the market is identical. The car season is shorter due to the frozen nature of the country at least one-third of the year, and fluctuating currency strength has adversely affected consumer confidence in making purchases from US-based retailers and manufacturers. We've needed a partner to help us grow in this market, stabilize pricing, and better serve both dealers and retail consumers with inventory north of the border and an import process that doesn't adversely impact the cost of goods," states Troy Sicotte, 034Motorsport's Global Director of Sales. "We found what we we're looking for with DeCar Auto Sportiv and are excited to see what they can do with our brand up north.”
Frank Derks, DeCar Auto Sportiv owner and founder, states, “My business and 034Motorsport share the same philosophy in that we would only sell or manufacture products that we would place on our own vehicles while putting the customer first. 034Motorsport has been a strong vendor for us over the past few years, and now we’ll take it to the next level to make it even stronger. Simply put, we’re proud to represent 034Motorsport in Canada.”
Dealers can set up an account with DeCar Auto Sportiv by contacting Frank directly:

I had these street density motor mounts installed a month ago after my oem mounts failed on me after 77k miles. I am starting to regret ever going this route after giving the mounts some time and a few hundred miles to “settle” in. At a cold start, the car gets crazy cabin vibrations as soon as the engine starts but goes away shortly after. The main cabin vibration issues I am experiencing on a daily basis is when I’m slightly stepping on the gas pedal after a dead stop. It’s extremely annoying and everyone in my car seems to tell me they feel the car vibrate when I slightly feather on the gas.
Any ideas on why it’s this bad? I was under the assumption that these would be a great addition for a Stage 2 car. This has been the worst investment I’ve made to the car and it takes away all the comfort this car has to offer. Makes me feel like I’m driving in my K20 civic hatchback from back in the day. I’m just very upset now that I’ll have to sell these and have to spend money on oem mounts and another $700 for labor. I do not recommend these to anyone who is willing to sacrifice smoothness and comfort. Maybe if you’re tracking and doing drag racing all the time, these might fit your need.

I dont blame all the vibrations on these mounts.
I've been in alot of different s4's mostly stock ones and some idled rougher then others.
I think depending on the maintenance on the car will play a big part in vibrations once the mounts get stiffened up.
The engine I just installed and the new mounts yesterday its smooth as butter
Barely notice anything..
Just my thought on this anyways

I got the A4/A5 based on feedback in this thread. I had one mount that was leaking but not blown totally yet. I can say I have not noticed any additional vibration or noise. I’m on stock exhaust so I would notice it more than others.

I'm getting ready to install my set of mounts this weekend, I've got a DSG and had a crucial question re:step 7:
"Step 7 – Securely support both sides of the subframe as pictured below, making sure you can lower it as needed to access the engine mounts. Please note that DSG vehicles may require you to disconnect additional lines or hoses."
Can anyone who's done this on a DSG mention any more details over what I have to look out for?
