Why doesn't anything go according to plan? [facepalm]

Tried changing my coil pack harness today and it failed....Why? Because Audi made the brilliant decision of "updating" the part to a newer revision and is no longer a direct replacement for our cars....I wanted to swap my existing from the factory harness because I accidently broke a clip on the last coil pack so while everything was still running perfectly, I thought I would buy a new harness for a 100% seal. Found the part number online, 06F971824, ordered it from a small Canadian website I've ordered from the past and today I realized it won't work...Why?

Look at how our original coil pack harnesses look like (06F971824A);

And look at how the "updated" coil pack harness looks like (06F971824C);

Spot the differences? The new one does NOT have a holder for the 02 sensor wire, has some kind of weird opening at the begining(????) that I didn't just want to leave open, and is 1-2cm shorter than the A revision part leaving part of the harness exposed that was previously covered....The best part? You can't even seem the buy the original A revision part anymore!!! [headbang] Everywhere just tells you A has now been superceded by C and you can purchase only C.....Put my old harness back, taped it up, and will wait until I figuire out what to do next...

My ETKA also lists the 06F971824C as the replacement, and it seems its been "updated" this way to make it fit a wider range of 2,0 FSI engines where some have the a ground cable coming from the other end of the harness (what that opening is for).
As for the cableholder, ETKA lists this clip now as a part of the O2-sensor scheme: 811971848B which is fastened on the edge of the heatshield.
And for the exposed wire due to it beeing shorter I guess you could just buy some corrugated loom and add to that bit.

Or go to a scrapyard and get a rev. A.

What clip did you brake exactly?

That is a totally different part than what this thread is about....If that is what you ordered, nevermind then because I need something totally different (didn't you look at the pictures??).

You said you broke a clip. I listed a clip that connects to the coil pack.

A clip on the coil pack harness cover (black plastic piece as shown above), not actually on a specific coil pack or its clip.

Post a pic of the clip that you need and I will see what I can do!

Why are you yelling at people? You clearly stated in the OP that you "broke a clip from the last coil pack", with no mention of any other "clip" needed .... He gave you the part you said you broke, relax. When people ask you what you are looking for, be more specific.

Are you looking for the clip that holds the O2 sensor to the wire harness?

Does anyone know where I can source a new or even used OEM but previous revision part from? [confused]

Yep. Reviving this old dinosaur thread because I also needed the wire harness conduit for my car. As stated by the OP, part number ending 'A' is no longer available and replaced with 'C' which is quite different because it is missing the 'C-clip' towards the end of the bend that holds the O2-Sensor cable. The only places that can be sourced in 'used' condition is in the deep end of Eastern Europe.

Wow! Too red for my taste. Just have to maybe go with whatever it is available, like the newer "c' revision which is quit different in size/length/curvature without the clip/. Shame. Maybe I'll just have to get creative and use zip-tie to hold on to the O2 cable.
