I got my car back from the body shop tonight and they removed the driver headlight completely. Now the auto-levelling doesn't work anymore, my passenger side light is a lot lower than it was when I brought it in (This headlight wasn't removed from the car)

I also have this warning light in the dash

the levelling sensor on the LCA is plugged in and placed correctly.

They may of started the car at some point with the headlight not plugged in causing the error.. I know that you have to go in with a Vagcom to clear the headlight error.

What work did you have done? If it was something under the car, it's possible they knocked loose/disconnected the level sensor that's on the front and/or rear suspension of the driver side.

I had the same warning light, and they would not automatically level. The lever arm on my rear one disconnected from the unit. Once I reconnected, it leveled again. I did go through the VCDS self-test for the lights, just in case.

Nevermind, re-read to see they disconnected headlight. In that case, yeah, if you've double-checked it, you'll need to find someone with VCDS. To the regionals with ye.

Talked to them today and they did start the car to move it into the booth without the headlight on.

What exactly do i have to do in vagcom to clear the code? (I've never used VCDM)

Do we just need to clear codes or modify something else?

Start by clearing the codes and go from there but prior to do so, read copy the fault code.
The ECU might have completely lost the adaption and you might have to perform a complete adaption if step 1 does not fix the issue.

Probably easy to just find someone local that can help.. It is not very hard. You plug it in / Find the module for the headlights / There should be a fault code button / It will display your headlight error and hit the clear code button.

Something close to that.. Haven't done it in a while but you get the idea.

If it comes back after clearing.. Then like fly300kts said it may be an adaptation issue which would require more advanced coding. I am sure there are some threads on it if you search.

Doesn't hurt to call your local dealer and explain what is needed to get that code off. Mostly likely they will do it for free. Had a rear right/bulb replaced with them in 15 minutes for nothing.

Do what Phil says! He is a black belt headlight master.

Just to post the resolution.

Using VCDS to clear the code and re run the scan fixed everything. It even readjusted my poorly aimed headlight from a year ago that I never fixed.

Thanks everyone
