Like the title says, I'm looking for a DIY to do this service. I've used the search function and didn't get anything specifically for a B7 A4. (1.8t's all day tho)
Also, if you happen to know the exact fluid amounts, that would be great too. I already have 3 bottles of Redline MT-90, but wondering if that's not enough...
Thanks

This is what I have(minus the plugs)

I'm assuming if ECS sells 3 bottles as a kit, that it would be the correct amount... but you never know lol
You can find the quantities on Redline's website. When doing the flush, make sure you can loosen the fill bolts before starting to drain.

You need 4 bottles. I believe it is 3.7L
Super easy, you need a set of hex bits and a set of triple square bits.
Go to the driver front axle, get a 8mm or 10mm hex bit, 3/8ths ratchet, and there is a place for it right above the drivers axle, Loosen this. Once it is loose, you can spin it out by hand.
Go under the tranny and find the drain plug, it is an m10 or m12 IIRC, remove it with a 3/8ths ratchet, use a pan to collect the oil.
Now get a hose and a funnel to refill, make sure the car is level on the ground, fill the tranny until fluid is coming out a little. Baiscally the correct way ( this is how the AUDI manual says to do it) to know if it is full enough is to put your finger in the hole and feel that the fluid is right there at the border of spilling out.
It sounds really unprofessional, but that is what Elsawin and bentley say to do.

Thats how I did it on my ex S2000 and ex ITR. I think its common but I does sound unprofessional "Fill it untill it overflows" -Brazzers

hahahaha its a universal way of filling, if it doesn't overflow then you are good. Applies to everything from toilets to washing machines.

Since we're kind of on the topic...does anyone know what the hole in the top right of this photo is? This isn't the fluid fill hole, is it? This is just above the driver's side axle.
I posted a while ago in the 'Questions you were afraid to ask' thread, but didn't get a response.

No that isn't the fill hole. That's just a vent hole, you can see the flywheel through there. Someone makes a cover for it I believe, don't remember who off hand though.

Beauty, I was pretty sure it was meant to be open, but thanks for setting my mind at ease.

Actually that is meant to be closed. It's an inspection hole. Mine has a plastic cover that goes over it.

Tell me about it, I can't stand the smell of gear oil now. When I had my conquest I did a quick job of "resurfacing the flywheel" and when I was taking the trans off full of fluid it got caught half on/off and dumped oil all over me and the ground around me and I finished the job covered in it and laying in it. Now I can't stand it.

If you want to cover it up, the part number for the plug is 078103113D and the bolt to hold it down N0902612.

You probably didn't get a response because this has been discussed quite a bit before: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/467604-Am-I-suppose-to-see-my-flywheel-or-is-something-missing-*pics*

Thanks for the info gents! Thanks for the link to that thread marlboro - I'm getting myself one of those fancy 034 covers. I definitely had no idea what I was searching for, so didn't find that thread.
Sorry OP. GL with the fluid change!

I just think it's ridiculous ECS sells a kit that's doesn't provide enough fluid... I have 3 bottles, so I'll probly pick up two more and do both front and rear. My understanding is with 5 bottles I should be able to do both with no problems?
