I get a strange metallic click noise as I start to move forward. Usually happens if I have come to a semi forceful stop or at least not a super slow stop. It's almost as if something is being distressed as I start to move forward. It's only started in the past few weeks. Any ideas? It sounds move like the right rear. Thanks.

Check your calipers - they might be sticking a bit.

Check CV boots, might have blown one and worn out the joint.

Both good suggestions. The car has sounded a bit rattle-y over rough road for the past month. Audi checked the entire front end and found nothing amiss. Dumb question, but are there CV boots in the rear? I can't figure out where the rattle is coming from. I notice it while braking at low speed on rougher pavement. It just sounds like light knocking. Would CV boots do that? It must be the rear end though as they checked the front. The Audi tech road with me but didn't hear what I was hearing. It shows up now and then and isn't real loud. Any thoughts on that please. Thanks as always.

I had some red fluid on my running boards about a month ago, right about when this noise started happening. It was dried up and hard to remove, but on both sides on my car behind the front wheels. Could it have been motor mounts causing this fluid, and now my rattle?

Yes there are CV boots in the rear if u are quattro. The fluid in the motor mounts is red and stains the mounts. If a CV boot blows you sling all the grease out which wears out the joint. Get and under the rear of the car with a flashlight and check the boots. Then look for fluid on the motor mounts.
