View Full Version : Traded in S4 and got a GS350 F-Sport

Warranty ended on the S4 and i'm afraid of the DSG mechatronics issue showing up so I decided to get something else for the wife as a DD.
Had a hard time finding an S3 in the area so I came home with a new '14 GS350 F-Sport since lease was outrageously low.
I'm amazed at the quality of the interior and the giant 12" nav screen.
power delivery isn't as great as the S4 not does it have the same feel, but the GS comes close when I drive in Sport +
Also looked at the A6 but lease prices are terrible.

Oh, noooooo! I'll give you that the Lexus interior is very nicely appointed, but it's just so disappointing to drive compared to the S4.

Audi couldn't fix the clunky tranny issue and i'm out of warranty period.
really wanted an S3 but so hard to find.

Audi just doesn't seem to subsidize leases like others, they can't touch the lease prices that BMW and Lexus offer and apparently it doesn't hurt their bottom line, so if your leasing, Audi's just are not a good deal.
Lexus still doesn't know how to built a sports sedan, but they are getting closer with every attempt!

not gonna lie, i usually hate the new body styles on the IS and GS (coming from an 11 IS). But I personally haven't seen the GS in a dark color with the F-sport package. that said, it looks good! congrats on the new car. and people can hate on Lexus/Toyota all they want. Shit will get you from A to B to Z without any problems [up]

At least you didn't buy it. Good wife car I guess if she likes it and if you lowered your payments at the same time then well done... I could not own one of those personally - ugly and yawn to drive...

for about $500/month lease, it's hard to beat.
I came in thinking the GS would be like a boat to drive, but I was pleasantly surprised how planted it was. Put it into Sport + setting and the feel/feedback is almost on par with the S4

Nice choice.
I was in the same boat, same car /w AWD (F-Sport package). Only gripe was I needed to spend here in Canada $7,000 worth of options I didn't want to get 60/40 folding seats and seat warmers (looks like they finally fixed that...lost sale here). They refused to do any type of conversion for me.
Also the lease is what enticed me, but I wanted to purchase the car, and after thinking some more, a slightly used S4 was the way to go.

I hear ya. Good car for wife...
What gets me excited is a MT, tuneable and engaging car... I'm guessing the aftermarket scene for these cars are minimal... as well as the enthusiast community. People lease/rent these things because lexus is trying to buy the market... then drive them completely stock for 3 years. Putting 91 octane in them and select D... YAWN!! LOL.... not for me at all. It's simply not an enthusiast car which means it's passionless to me...

I just realized the dealership put the wrong cap cost adjusted price.
We had agreed on selling price 50,989 and instead they have it as 51,989

Did you sign two separate agreements showing the two different prices? If so, I wonder how it would be determined which one takes precedence.

I think they tried and successfully got this past me. I signed all these docs at 8pm on a thursday night.
If it doesn't get adjusted they'll hear a lot more from me.

If the GS had a motor comparable to the S4, it would be in my garage right now.....It is their best car and was very surprised how well it handled when test driving one even better than their IS350 IMO...

I drove an F at SEMA back in 2009 and it was a fun ride... I just dont get the same feeling from those cars that I do in German cars. They are great cars though so congrats and lower it [race]

That is a nice car, its got a bit more room in it and obviously it's a very well built/appointed car. I looked at it pretty hard but in the end it was a bit soft on the performance end(too much like my TL I was coming out of) so I went with the S4. I need a car with an auto as my wife occasionally drives it and I was insistent on getting a car with a dual clutch trans.

I would get another S4 in a heartbeat
if lease deals were decent.

What exactly makes it a good "wife car"? If she likes it, great. Then it's the right car for her.
<---- This wife loves her 6MT S4. No, my husband didn't buy it. Before you ask, I don't have a boyfriend.

Something that she likes as you stated.
She had a Fiat 500 as a commuter car for a year. What a POS that car was.

Congrats of your new car.
But did you try to look at 14' bmw 528i xdrive?
it's 4 cyl turbo but it does ride better and quality is better than GS.
I recently bought 2014 528i xdrive with luxury package for $54890 and they had pretty good lease offers too.
But you already got it so but Enjoy your new ride. It does look sharp.

The 535i M sport rode a little better but not by much.
But the overall pkg of 535i M sport vs GS350 F sport, the GS won for me. Maybe the dealer's car wasn't fully loaded?
Local dealer here wanted $700+ for a 535i lease [down]

The GS is absolutely the better car. The current 5 chassis is pretty crap. The GS has outperformed it in just about every review, and the rear wheel steering option makes it handle sweetly.
