View Full Version : Anyone running ebay projector headlights?
Broke my driver side afs bi xneon headlight, from what ive researched they're pretty expensive. So if you have success with a pair of eBay I might go that route.
P.s. my passanger headlight is fine

I have the eagle eye headlights that mimics the b8 led pattern and honestly couldn't be happier. The projector quality is great, I've sat next to another b7 with oem bixenons and mine had a sharper cutoff and more even light distribution. Put a $10 set of 55w 6000k eBay hid bulbs paired with a nice set of 55w canbus ballast and I have never once had an issue with them turning on. Bought the headlights on eBay from carid for around $350. Deff worth it and looks really good. Plus these headlights work with the ambers off mod.

Most of the people here will agree that the OEM bixenons are the way to go. If you like the look go for it and give it a shot. I personally just went ahead with the OEM set and couldn't be happier.

I have them with the R8 led stripe. I would like the OEM, but to pricey to justify. I like my led stripe.
Correct me if i'm wrong but if you have OEM xenon stock, you cant put aftermarket light, ebay lights are for halogen owner.

Unless they are the ebay ones that use actual unicorn corneas for lenses. The cutoff is so sharp they literally cut whatever they illuminate in half. True story.

I personally hate how they look but the light output is better then my ugly halogens ( soon retrofit) my boy has them an i was impressed.

Rather than call this a sharp cut off, I would call that a mess
Phil
Phil,
For a cheap aftermarket pattern, that isn't too bad. Compared to all the other crap I see on the road that is a nice pattern.
Wouldn't dare give up my OEMs for those though.

I did not even like the OEM output either so I had to upgrade them too

LOL... The heart wants what the heart wants! Nothing wrong with upgrading to better. I put projectors in my 2003 pickup, while it lacks the adaptive ability of my A4 OEM's the light pattern is slightly better than the audi's.
But for cheap aftermarket lights, I still think that is one of the best light patterns I've seen (from a picture that is...). If I didn't have OEM's I might be researching those.

I give him credit[up]. At least he [wrench]projectors for his HID instead of just blinding people with HID installed in halogen housings[facepalm]

100% agreed.
Same headlights, they aren't the cheap "R8 style!!!" rice headlights, decent overall build quality, and they don't throw light everywhere...Very sharp cutoff points.
Did you install yours yourself audihere? Did you adjust/tilt them after? My light output is even sharper than yours but I paid to get them professionally installed...

Yes I did it myself. I just need to re aim them. These headlights were the first thing i did when i bought the car last year, because i had a broken adjuster on my halogens and the low beam was blinding people. Otherwise I might would have waited and bought OEM, but I was car broke. I would hardly call their cutoff a mess, anyone seen the complete crap projectors ford is putting in their cars from the factory. Not only are all of them aimed wrong but they shoot random shards of light everywhere. Usually I can tell when I'm being blinded at night its either a ford or honda.

So true. That's the WORST, especially in jacked up trucks so they're directly at eye level.

it's always the jacked up trucks.
I'm pretty sure the drivers aren't the sharpest.

Clearly not they put all their money into making a 8000lb crew cab long bed "fast", and think that because they can roll coal they are making power...I live in north Carolina so I see it every day.

I stand corrected, Sir. That actually looks like decent output as well as cutoff.
My OEMs have excellent output but zero cutoff at that range.

I cant complain about these headlights other than the brightness of the leds but theres a diy on how to fix that
Heeeeeeey.... I have a pickup with HID's... But mine are projectors and have a better light pattern than my OEM A4.

I have the same but my cutoff dont look that good i would say. I have xenarc HID, maybe that's is the difference. It seem i cant angle mine correctly and the pattern is too diffuse, like if you play with a magnifying lens in front of a light.

Shops have a chart to professionally align them. I did mine at home but they turned out perfectly level. Just need to adjust the left and right now.

To be honest this are the only aftermarket headlights that don't look bad. any one in the street not audi related would probably think this are OEM.

Can you link me to which bulbs and ballasts you are using? I always see aftermarket HID kits acting up...one won't turn on, flashing/blinking, etc. It would be nice to see a kit that doesn't give any issues.

The bulbs don't matter so much as the ballast. I've never had a bulb go out on me its always the crappy ballast. Ive run a $10 set of eBay bulbs for over a year without a single instance where one wouldn't work. The ballast I use are the same ones sold by umnitza, they are the canbus pro brand. http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-55W-CANBUS-PRO-BALLAST-NO-ERRORS-REPLACEMENT-12v-24v-32v-h7-H1-H11HB4-/281309570907?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item417f5b675b&vxp=mtr
Or if you don't trust eBay or umnitza or whayever , you could always check out theretrofitsource.com but you will pay for their product. However it is really good stuff. So its up to you.
