Hey guys I have a 2007 A4 2.0t and its acting real weird, pulsing RPM's at cruising speed, it feels like its driving like a Ford Escort, and when the RPM's get high theres a little bucking followed by complete loss of acceleration, like it's bogged down (really it seems like something is shorted out or plugs or something) and it slowly decellerates until I let off the gas then it goes again. It's running fine enough to drive daily but it's I feel like it's back on it's way to CEL/EPC limp mode again. I had similar symptoms before and replaced a ton of shit (hpfp, lpfp, fuel filter, both 614 relays, a sensor I dont recall) and even brought it to Thompson Audi who never diagnosed anything they just threw parts at it until the lights went off (5 minutes out the door, welcome back lights) Anyway I'm looking for someone ANYONE in the Farmington area or anywhere even close that is up for a good challenge because this thing just won't go away. I'm drowning here. Help!

Try Pcv I don't know what rev u have or last time u changed it but that's what happened to me when it fails, crazy surging revs even when driving. Just something to check and every time I took it to the dealer like 5 times at about 20-30k when I first started having the issue and came back again around when the warranty was ending. They would scan erase say it was fixed and 10 minutes out the door it would star all over again.

It's not just the surging it's also the complete loss of power/acceleration when the rpms get up high (like in sport mode) and also when I take my foot off the the gas pedal then step back down there's a bit of lag, like I can press down about a half an inch before I get any response.

Also when I'm not moving just idling there is no surge at all.

How many miles? N275 li had that fail on me also it's located at the top of the high pressure fuel pump, basically once it goes u are running on the low pressure fuel pimp alone at like 5 bar or something like that. In the beginning it will act up randomly like sometimes u have power and sometimes u won't but eventually it will just give out and u will need to go get another hpfp.

Never gives u any codes pointing directly to n275 being the problem. But I'm vagcom there is a way with the car not running u can activate n275 and u will hear it click pretty load if it clicks it's still working if not then u need a new one.

There should be now way it's N275 it's brand new. If it is then there is something in my car thats burning them out because that'd be my 3rd hpfp in 6 months.

Have you checked for carbon buildup? Last summer we cleaned friend of mine's '05 A4 and it was nasty.

I have not checked for carbon build-up but I don't think thats the culprit. It def seems like something malfunctioning, I just can't figure out what. From what I've seen using the search my symptoms sound similair to transmission (fluid + filter change) or N75. The problem seems to be that most things malfunctioning will show the same symptoms. Theres no CEL but there must be codes, so I need to get them pulled then go from there I guess.

I had this problem on my A3. First was sporadic and then in cold days had it more often. Car was with 105K miles when I cleaned it for first time. It was nasty job - 8hrs total. It took one hr per cylinder. I cleaned it again @ 150K and it wasn't that bad but there was a build up already. If you are close to 100K definitely check it out.

I had to clean mine out around 90k but did not have these symptoms, mine started with a misfire and a code, changed plugs, maf, n75 or 70 which ever it is etc... Then the misfires started on other cylinders and was clueless. Finally had it cleaned and that's all it needed but never limp mode, or no power at all. That happened when my n275 went. If u went through 3 in 6 months it is well worth it to start there, free easy diagnostic in vagcom for peace of mind

I'm in Bangor and have rosstech. Not sure if you could make the 1:30 min drive. But I'm up for a challenge.

I'll try to find some time that'll work for both of us. It's going to be tough where the season is starting at Sugarloaf but I appreciate this and will be in touch.

Whereabouts in Bangor do you live? I'm failry unfamiliar with the city other than Hollywood slots and The Mall. I think I could come up with some time toward the latter part of the week if that works for you? I'm also going to go see a guy in Farmington thats done work on my car, he mis-diagnosed why it was going into limp w/ EPC light but just barely. He said it was ECU but it was 614 relay.

Right down the road from the mall. Across the street from Buffalo Wild Wings in that neighborhood.
